The older I get - the more I enjoy reading Hemingway.

I really don’t like Hemingway I fear. Far too much dialogue about banal things, characters with no personality other than saying pithy little contradictory phrases, and no plot (which I usually like when there are characters to make up for it). Overall a PLAIN book with a good bit about bullfighting. hemingway is only good for short stories in my opinion, his style grows old on me quickly.

rated higher because i love spain.

The 20s expatriate scene that makes me want to move to Paris. Brett is Daisy Buchanan in another font and is deeply unlikeable which is unfortunate, but captures the “lost generation” according to Stein quite perfectly

Well it's certainly a book that was written and published. Maybe it's too smart for me, but I was confused sometimes while reading because of the 1920s lingo. I didnt't know what was going on between the characters sometimes until I read the plot summaries (again, because of the dialogue at times.) It's alright book overall, though! There are parts that I enjoyed like the
fight between Cohn and Mike
and the bullfighting scenes.

id like to say that because of this book I fell in love with Hemingway’s writing. Now although the story isn’t anything crazy, his prose and storytelling are really something else. such an enjoyable book and quite an easy read, both in the literal sense and just overall feeling it evokes. characters are extremely fleshed out and you’re able to have very strong emotions and feelings. almost as if you were there, traveling with the gang, and gaining insight to an inquiring narrator. i’m very excited to read Hemingway’s other works
