Not Your Ex’s Hexes is a fun, lighthearted read, though not without its flaws. The story centers on Rose, a witch trying to find her way after stepping down from the Supernatural Council, and Damian, a half-demon running an animal sanctuary. Their chemistry is undeniable, though their romance feels bumpy at times. Damian’s overprotectiveness and dismissive attitude towards Rose’s ideas were frustrating, but thankfully, this is resolved later in the book.
While the humor and banter are highlights, they can sometimes feel overdone, especially during more suspenseful moments where it detracts from the tension. Additionally, for readers unfamiliar with the first book in the series, there are noticeable gaps in the worldbuilding that can make things feel disjointed.
Despite these issues, the story’s charm, witty dialogue, and heartwarming animal sanctuary setting make it an enjoyable read. A solid 3-star book with fun moments, though a tighter focus and less banter would have elevated it further.

Wow loved every minute of this book. The author wrote a wonderful story between a witch and a half demon/human. The snarky comments really helped with the love/hate relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and fell in love with Rose & Damian. Their attraction was sizzling until they became friends with benefits.
This is my second book by April Asher and I hope it won't be the last. Her writing pulls you into the story, you find yourself laughing out loud, crying, cheering on the good guys and overall happiness. Damian is a half demon, half human and runs a sanctuary for animals, as well as being a veterinarian. Damian can be a grump, but he has wonderful qualities as well. And when it comes to Rose you can sense the sizzling attraction between them. Rose is a good girl type but can get into mischief without trying as you will see when reading this book. They compliment each other.
While I am not an eloquent reviewer I review from the heart and I loved this book. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Highly recommend this book and series!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me to read an advanced digital copy of this book for an honest review. These are my words and my words alone!

I loved the fun world April Asher has built, the characters are cute and sweet but this was just way too long. I stopped caring about these characters 60% of the way through sadly.
I really wanted to like this one. I read the description and the reviews and was like YES, but as I got into it I was sorely disappointed. There were so many cutesy euphemisms that I just was turned off. They were so overused that they were distracting. I finally figured out that Mr. Wiggles was the vibrator but wow. I also struggled with the writing style. Perhaps because I kept stumbling through kitschy phrases that it just never held my attention. I found myself annoyed with this book and ultimately did DNF it.
I do think that some people will enjoy this book. If you enjoyed the first book in this series, Not the Witch You Wed, I think you’ll enjoy, though the cute thermometer has been dialed up a lot of notches. Just be prepared. Thank you so much to St Martins Press and NetGalley for a gifted e-ARC in exchange for this honest review. I will not be posting to my social media for this one.

I did really enjoy this one and loved all the characters HOWEVER, it could have been 50 pages shorter. There was a section in the middle which felt incredibly drawn out and it was obvious what was going to happen after.
#NotYourExsHexes:
I was honestly a bit worried for Not Your Ex’s Hexes, as I usually feel like the 2nd book in the series hit a type of sophomore slump. I am here to tell you the 2nd book in the Supernatural Singles series is such a treat, and the books just keep getting better with time.
First off, I really liked Rose as an MC and felt like she was so relatable. She steps down as prima (okay, can’t relate there) but she goes through dead end job to dead end job to really find her “call” or “purpose”. I feel like we all may have had that a time or two, and really liked how we got to understand her frustration and self-doubt. I found myself cheering hard for Rose.
For Damien, I loved we got a good base on his back story. It really helped me fall in love with him and want him for our girl Rose. His hex was very understanding in a magical realm, and I liked how it was introduced. Their banter and chemistry was IT, and it was so refreshing to see that forced proximity put to good use.
Dang, April Asher, what CAN’T you do? Loved this book so much and I can’t wait to see what happens next! Thank you @smpromance for the gifted copy, Not Your Ex’s Hexes is out now!

Definitely steamier than the first book, Rose is not like her sister, Violet. Where Violet is impulsive, Rose is someone who plans and executes. Pairing her with Damian, a half demon, was a fun choice. The grumpy-sunshine dynamic is not subtle with a book that is 80% banter, but again it was a welcomed break from all the deep literary content. I wanted to have fun and this book was that!
Like the first book, the resolution of conflict was a bit hand-wavy, but on the other hand, we got to learn way more about the Maxwell triplets and their world. Particularly, the last sister who was less of a background character. I suspect her book will close this trilogy.
