Note: I also wrote this review for the Manchester Public Library (CT) Goodreads account.
This graphic novel has adorable characters, beautiful illustrations, and a cute story. It was not difficult to get pulled into Hilda's world of foxes with antlers, a little man made of wood, giants, and trolls. The visual component of this was probably the most appealing of all the graphic novels I've ever read - I find some graphic novels have great storylines but an art style I'm not into or I find just so-so. There's humor, coziness, and adventures in this series and I definitely plan to read more!

I was brought to Luke Pearson's Hildafolk after watching the Netflix series with my fiance. I was delighted to find that even in a comic format, it still captures the sweet, whimsical tone we found in the show. I look forward to reading the next chapters in Hilda's story.
there is a lovely sense of whimsy and homelyness to this little graphic novel that encapsulates the feelings of childhood adventure perfectly. the layout and colouring, but just the art in general really, was stunning and i only wish that the story had had a little longer to play out.
cute and very whimsical. too short to have much substance, but I would totally be down for a longer graphic novel following Hilda and her adventures because I love her and this art style.
I seek out most of my graphic novels for the art, because I am a sucker for fun art. I absolutely adored the illustrations in this one. The story was also wonderful, and combined with Pearson's art it made for a cozy, lovely adventure. Came for the art, stayed for the whole package, I will definitely be reading more.

4 stars. Awwwwww, this is so cute. The drawing style is quite a bit different from the series adaptation but I still really love it.
This first installment was a bit uneventful to be honest but that's okay since it's just the first book in the series. Can't wait to continue and see Alfur!
