This book is absolutely amazing. The author is a fantastic writer, and the worlds he creates are richly detailed and leave you longing for more. Hell Followed with Us is emotionally devastating yet still carries just enough hope that these characters you come to love will be as okay as they can be in this hellscape of a world they are forced to exist in.

I loved this one. The characters in the romance actually communicate and attempt to talk thing out with each other? wild?! Unabashedly a queer story for the queer kids filled with rage and the queer kids who never got to be out without scrutiny, who always had to hide from their family. And ESPECIALLY for all those queer kids with religious trauma.

This book had a lot of things that would be described as extremely gruesome, graphic and horrifying. The protagonist has a terminal disease in which he is turning into a monster, and he routinely vomits up black sludge and parts of his internal organs. He has violent impulses and thoughts that become more and more intense as the story goes on. The cult is also pretty horrible and sacrifices children and cuts them in a ritual way, and uses scarification to put wings into their back. There is also strangulation scenes and scenes where skin and muscle sloughs off the protagonist's body.

u should read this if u want a 10/10 queer horror book that has a p wild and original plot and shit

Also this is the second book ive read this year about religious groups at the end of the world which is cause by a ‘flood’- what does this say about me?

The only thing is i wanted a bit more at a couple points esp the last lil bit

‘Stand on any roof, wall, or hill tonight and watch the world slow down. Watch it empty.’

‘In what world was their God ever a benevolent one?’

‘If they believe in judgment, let them feel it.’

Was really boring. Not into body horror, and didn’t know that was going to be a big part of the book. The religious trauma and transphobia is also not for me. Didn’t think this was going to be a “happy” book, but at least thought it was going to be a funner read. I do really like post apocalyptic books and angels and demons, but this book just wasn’t for me.
