Very slow, very scientific, couldn’t really get ahold of the timeline or how things were happening…

Thought provoking on many levels, the remnants of quantum physics class I took in college, death, terminal illness and the world of “what if”. There are many gifts in this book to unearth.

Read for FM book club

I picked this up from a friends free library because I have a compulsive need for free books. I am returning it for free as well. I did try with the first few chapters, but when I realized I was avoiding the thing, I skimmed to page 100, then jumped to the last few pages. Life is short - no time for reads you don’t care for.

I enjoyed this book, but wasn’t a huge fan of the ending.

I apologize in advance for one of my dreaded unpopular opinion reviews...I always feel horrible when I don't love a book. I appreciate how hard authors work on their books.

I felt like this book often read more like a textbook than a novel. I was surprised because I've never felt anything but adoration for Picoult's books. This one just had too much educational information mixed in with the story line. It really took away from my being able to care about what was happening with the plot. Which is crazy coming from me because I LOVE learning and I am usually excited when I finish a book and feel like I've learned something. However, this book just felt over loaded with information.

I did enjoy the way the book was set up to represent the two paths from the Book of Two ways. I enjoyed the tomb exploration and the love story. The descriptions of Dawn's job as a death doula were emotional and wonderfully written. But I found it too difficult to connect with the characters or care about the plot because the book felt to textbook.
