made me wanna restart my life unfortunately! also timeframes were confusing for a while but then it All Came Together

It moved too slow, felt a little repetitive. I liked the Egyptian portions but it just didn’t move along at a pace that kept me intrigued

Interesting storyline, and I love Jodi Picoult's writing style, but this book is very history heavy, it becomes a bit too much. I found myself having to constantly Google what things were when they weren't explained, which was distracting.

I liked this book but didn’t like the ending as much as I would have liked

I did a combination of audiobook and regular book for this one. It was super dense with information about Egyptology. I’m not sure I retained much. The story line was captivating enough. It wasn’t my favorite, but I did enjoy it.

I always love Jodi Picoult's characters and how they always have a Special Interest of some kind. Picoult gets really into her research, and she's really proud of it, which is great and good for her, but it does lead to long infodumpy blocks of text sometimes. The stuff about death doulas was really interesting; the stuff about Egyptology I mostly skimmed.

The twist in this one is mostly guessable, which I say is a good thing. I do have a problem with the twist as it does cheat the book out of its interest/hook, but ultimately I don't think that was too much to the book's detriment.

What a slog to get through. I'm glad I listened to the audiobook instead because I definitely would've given up on the Kindle edition. That being said, I almost just put this in the DNF like. There were days when I couldn't even bring myself to listen because I was so indifferent about the story.

I read it for my book club and I think they would've understood if I showed up and said, "sorry, ladies. I couldn't get through this one."

Enough with the Egyptology and minutiae of archeology. It was so boring.

Two stars because there is a story there, it just took way too long to unravel.
