Setelah membaca kedua kalinya (penasaran sama komplennya Nielam nih), akhirnya aku berhasil mendapatkan 'soul'nya buku ini. Fantasi Geraldine McCaughrean ternyata sangat luar biasa, terutama dalam alur cerita yang lucu dan sangat tidak realistis...hihihi...
Aku sendiri belum pernah baca karya asli Mr. Barrie himself, tapi kalau film2 tentang Peter Pannya sendiri sudah sering menontonnya, mulai dari versi kartunnya, Peter Pan the movie sampai Hook. Bahkan dalam Finding Neverland, aku sempat menangis sesenggukan di akhir ceritanya... *eh, gada hubungannya yah?*
Anyway, karakter Hook dalam buku ini kembali menjadi sosok yang menarik bagiku. Berasal dari anak kecil yang tidak bahagia karena minat dan bakatnya tidak diakui oleh sang Ibu,(lagi-lagi masalah sistem pendidikan & tekanan sosial), sehingga menjadi bajak laut yang ternyata adalah seorang pawang dan pencinta binatang..hehehe...salut buat kapten Hook...
Pelajaran yang dapat diambil dari buku ini adalah:
Jika engkau terlalu lama menggunakan jas milik seorang bajak laut, maka lama-kelamaan engkau akan menjadi Mr. Hook!

Oh, Geraldine McCaughrean. You tried. You tried reaaaal hard. But you're just not JM Barrie. I commend you for undertaking this impossible quest, but you can't come close to the original.

The book is silly and cute, but too meandering for my tastes. There are some clever plot elements, but I never really felt excited by anything. It's very short, but a little boring.

This is the official sequel to Peter Pan. It is a good book, though it was a bit dark, which I thought was strange, especially since I think it's supposed to be a children's book. But overall, the book is great. Plus the dust jacket is amazing.
This was in my currently reading pile for a while and finally I gave it to one of the 7th graders at school who said she enjoyed it. I couldn't get past Peter being such a egotistical jerk and Wendy being such a push over. The charters worked well in the 1900's but in the age of Divergent and other female empowered stories, it was too painful to read.
