Review of Be With Me by Gabrielle Sands

I read the synopsis of this ARC and was so excited to read this! I was absolutely not disappointed. I am still thinking about it!

She’s the mayor-to-be’s perfect daughter. He’s the ruthless villain set to ruin her.I’ve spent my life putting others first. So when my father runs for New York City mayor—on a promise to take down the city’s most notorious crime family—I do what I always push my own dreams aside to help him win.

Mia is the daughter of a politician in lead to be governor. Romolo is the son of a don, third in line to the Ferraro empire. When Mia crashes her best friend's engagement party (an entirely different story, but absolutely relevant), she finds out that her best friend is in an arranged engagement to the future don of the Ferraros, and happens to be the daughter of the head of a different family in the mafia. At the party, Mia meets Romolo, and neither identify the other. He learns quickly who Mia is, and Romolo sets off with a plan to take down the opposing governor through his daughter. Despite their differences, Mia and Romolo find their similarities, past traumas, and current attractions are hard to ignore. While she is gentle, he is fierce. He builds her up and she provided focus and peace for him. How will their relationship ever exist in a world where their families are warring against each other?

This is the first book of the House of Ferraro series and has serious Romeo and Juliet vibes. With dark romance, spice, family secrets, and mafia intrigue, this book is living rent free in my head until the next is released!

This was a fun and easy read! The writing style and pacing were both excellent from start to finish. I also thought the development of the characters relationship between the FMC and MMC was done really well. I’d say this is a softer dark mafia romance than others I’ve read but I loved that. I’m excited to read book two.
medium-paced

Look I like the banter and occasional good chemistry between the MC's but the plot felt a bit sparse this time. Throwing in the random childhood trauma felt very off also...
