Profoundly liberating. Wish I'd read this in my 20s but maybe I would not have been ready for it then?

Enjoyed the format of the dialogue between Philosopher and Youth to introduce new and bold topics like debating the existence of trauma. Main takeaway was to achieve happiness, they suggest to fully live in the now.

I almost stopped reading The Courage to be Disliked after I realized that it was told in a philosophical format, with a student and a teacher. I avoid philosophy in general but decided to keep reading as a stretch book. Unfortunately, this book wasn't for me. I was bored and disagreed with some of the points made. Some of the points were familiar as they felt like life coaching. The tone seemed very patronizing.

Dropped for now, just can’t get the trauma thing. It’s kinda hard to hear as someone who’s been thru some capital “T” Trauma. Might pick up again someday, not a priority tho
