Wow, that's quite a life. Fan before and still am. He did a nice job performing the reading.

Reasonably charming, though Collins runs out of good stories about halfway through.

A pretty straightforward recounting of his life and career. Doesn't get too detailed about the development of his work with Genesis (which was my primary reason for reading), but he does cover band politics, his journey to becoming a solo artist (and ubiquitous in the 80s), and his struggles with alcoholism. Readable and fun for fans.

I love when the author reads their own book!

Insightful

You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll be glad you are not famous. You'll especially be glad you are not an insecure, work-obsessed celebrity loved by millions but who can't keep his home life together.

I really enjoyed this book. Collins shows a lot of humor and is very British. Do the audiobook. It's worth it for his turn of phrase and impersonations of others. He puts a lot of emotional stuff out there, but still seems to be quite guarded in some areas. I can respect that. I couldn't imagine exposing this much of my life to millions.

If you grew up as I did listening to the music of Collins and Genesis, I highly recommend this book. If you want a story of three failed marriages, late onset alcoholism, and numerous medical conditions, I also recommend this.
