I loved this book. I listened to the audiobook and loved the personal feeling it gave hearing it from Cassandra. Read it, don’t wait!

Eh, it was fine. Breezed through the last few chapters because it just didn't hold much interest. I'm very surprised by all the famous people she's had memorable encounters with, and her road to Elvira was incredible.

Very genuinely I can never look at Elvira the same, and it turns my stomach. Her statements about male sexual assault survivors is awful, and holy shit what she said about Divine was not fucking okay. She’s a “fag hag” unless you’re fat and don’t kiss her ass I guess.

There had always been an air of mystery about Cassandra Peterson, but after 40 years we've all been invited to finally know her, and not just the legendary character, Elvira.
This book reads like two friends sitting down for a long chat. It's full of humour, shock, and ultimately the matter-of-fact truth that we often expect from someone with the experience that Cassandra Peterson has earned.
I think the thing that makes it so wonderful is that she waited this long to share her story. She was able to share every moment with a calm acceptance instead of an overly emotional dramatisation of her life.
I'm grateful to not only know the character of Elvira, but to now know Cassandra Peterson, too.

This was gifted to me by a friend. I wasn't familiar with Elvira before listening to this, and I am curious about her movies now. She had a pretty wild life, as a groupie, showgirl, and actress. I was continually struck by how much misogyny and harassment Peterson put up with through her career.
