An easy five-star read! Hazel and Jack killed it in the 18th century. A very very gripping story indeed.

I am kinda underwhelmed by this. The writing was a bit too juvenile for my tastes. And I wasn’t aware this had fantasy elements and Idk, if I expect going into a book expecting a crime/historical fiction and then suddenly fantasy stuff happening - Idk, I can’t stand it and it’s a pet peeve of mine.

This reminded me a lot of Stalking Jack the Ripper and if you love that one but would've liked it a little more gruesome then this is the book for you! That being said, I felt like the love story was very light on the romance so adjust your expectations there. The mystery here was barely a mystery, I rather felt this story was more gothic vibes and a girl's dream of becoming a surgeon. One nice contrast is that our FMC here wants to be a doctor so there is more emphasis on saving life rather than just examining corpses. Overall, this was a good read, even if admittedly, it was largely the vibes that carried it for me.
