4/5 - Really cute book and easy to read/listen to.

This book had a really intriguing plot and main character. Hazel was great and I love her ambitious drive. I think the romance could've been developed more. And the ending confused me so I would've liked more clarification on that. Great writing style.

I listened to this on audible. I would listen again.

Good book with reasonable pacing, good cast of characters that felt fleshed out, and a decent mystery set in 19th century Scotland. Ending definitely felt rushed, and not in a good "things are happening so fast I'm sucked in" kind of way. I think it should've been stretched to maybe another chapter or two, maybe with Hazel trying to help/save him and failing? Overall still a good book

2.5 stars to the YA gothic horror Anatomy: A Love Story.

I…was mostly bored by this book unfortunately. It took me almost half to book to really be pulled in and the ending just didn’t really work for me (and felt rushed in comparison to the slow start). I do however adore the cover design and would love to have a print of it.

The premise was intriguing - a young noble Scottish woman must use the services of a body snatcher so she can study anatomy to become a doctor. They begin to notice a string of disappearances and murders and decide to try to figure out what is happening before more go missing.
I did like the setting of Victorian era Scotland, it added some pretty good atmosphere to the story.

I did enjoy both Hazel and Jacks characters and their interactions, and I did root for Hazel in her quest to become a doctor in a time where women couldn’t be doctors.

Overall an okay read, with a gorgeous cover.

This book is not really a historical romance in the traditional sense, so I understand why people felt blindsided. I got the feeling the title meant mostly the love Hazel feels towards medicine, peppered lightly with some actual swoony stuff. I enjoyed it, but I would have been disappointed if I was in it for the romance.

This started out SO great. I was invested, in love with the main character, and tremendously enjoyed the setting. Then came the last act, and I felt like I was reading a different book. It felt incredibly rushed and did not fit with the rest of the story at all.
I don't regret reading this, but nothing bothers me more than an unsatisfactory ending.
