I really don’t like short stories most of the time but these really drew me in right from the start with the 100 ex-boyfriends. I love the absurdism in each of the stories and the lack of a conclusive ending really worked (most of the time).

Phenomenal book! There’s some real heavy hitting stories that I enjoyed, it’s actually hard to say which ones are my personal favorites as all of these stories struck different chords. The ones that resonated with me are G, Tomorrow, Returning, Peking Duck, and Oranges- which include common themes of diaspora,  toxic/abusive relationships, and uncertainty. The writing is brilliant and clever, and requires a level of deeper exploration that is hard to fully accomplish if you take continual breaks (which unfortunately I often will do). Overall, I highly encourage the read especially if you’re into the surrealist genre.

Weird and wonderful
