"I think people who say life is all about the choices we make and the roads we go down are full of shit. (...) When the fickle finger of fate points at you, all roads lead to the same place, that's what I think. I might change my mind when I'm older, but I really don't think so."

This is a great book to read if you’re looking for a “light” version of Stephen King’s It.

I’ve been wanting to get into King for the longest time, and this was recommended as a good starting point. It did not disappoint! The audiobook is FANTASTIC

This was my first dive into King’s contribution to the Hard Case Crime collection, and I wasn’t disappointed. It doesn’t fit neatly into one category, it's very much a genre-bender, blending elements of both horror and crime.

I absolutely flew through this and couldn’t put it down. The short chapters helped keep the pace feeling quick and engaging. For such a short novel, I think King managed an impressive amount of character development. I loved the pop culture references sprinkled throughout, they really brought the story to life and added depth to Jamie (our main character and narrator).

At the time of reading this, I’m still early in my Stephen King journey, but ‘Later’ felt unlike anything else I’ve read from him so far. I’m looking forward to picking up his other two contributions to the Hard Case Crime collection.
