The Dark Knight Strikes again presents itself as a very complicated and abstract story. The drawing style sets it back and makes the story even more complicated and fuzzy. It's a good story, but too much Deus Ex Machina, too much of Superman & friends, and too little of Batman. I liked it, but I can't say I was thrilled. The story doesn't capture you the way a Frank Miller story should.

While there are some clever moments and great artwork in this collection, the story lacks the focus and narrative of Dark Knight Returns. In fact, Batman has little more than a cameo - this is really a Superman/Justice League book, more than anything else. A decent read, but not amazing.

In many ways, this is very good. But of course it does pale in comparison to its predecessor, and it's a bit too bizarre and hard to follow in places. But overall I still liked it a lot, and it is not terrible, despite what some on Goodreads would have you believe.

This is way too messy and chaotic for my taste. I feel so tired after finishing it, it was hard to keep up with all of the characters and the plot itself.

This comic series is the embodiment of Frank Miller at his worst, both artistically and politically. The plot boringly meanders, the artwork can only be called incredibly lazy, and the underlying ideology is crypto-fascist at best.

The worst part is, however, that it retroactively draws attention to all the corresponding flaws hidden within "The Dark Knight Returns", that seminal classic of Batman comics. Miller's particular brand of insanity may have intensified over the years, but it was present even in the glory days of his early career.

Coming two decades after the original Dark Knight Returns, this story couldn't help but be disappointing. A fun read, but the art does not hold up in my opinion, and it really seemed like more of a cash-grab than a story that needed to be told. In fact, I could have lived a happy life had this story never seen print. Worth reading if you're a fan of the first one, but not so much otherwise.

I stand by my original sentiment - This was pretty craptacular. I can't believe they're doing DK3, and now apparently DK4 as well. Talk about pissing all over your legacy, Mr. Miller...

2019 RE-READ REVIEW
Some parts of the story have actually aged exceptionally well, but for the most-part this book still reads like a mess, only slightly redeemed by the events of DK3. If I could change this to 2.5 stars, I would because that feels like a nice compromise.

You can skip it, it had its moments, but maybe the weakest story I've ever read with all the characters it has.
