Second chance romance
I love second chances romance, this is one of those that make you dive right into the story since the beginning and don’t stop until finish. The combination of soldier in love with his best friend sister is one of my favorite reference to fell in love, and the hot escenas only added that extra spice to the book. Recommended to all romance lovers.

Gray and Drew. I would classify this as a second chance romance, although they were really only apart a few years. Dual POV. It has a HEA and an epilogue.
Gray:
He was always trying to prove that he was something better than what the town thought and he was an outsider when it came to the way the town treated him and his uncle. He was a nice enough guy, but I didn’t see him as a big alpha male type. He has some issues he needs to work through (guilt being a big one).
Drew:
She has had a crush on Gray since she was a little girl. She’s a therapist now, so she’s always had a desire to help people. She’s a nice person and perseveres in relationships long after a time where I would have given up.
There were a few times where Gray and Drew irritated me as they acted so immature. After waiting for him and pining away for years, he comes back and doesn’t give her the attention she wants so she dates somebody to get back at him for something he’s not even doing. Sometimes I felt like they were in high school ☹️I wanted them to both grow a spine and just admit their feelings and not let outside influences detract from their relationship.
Ralph (secondary character) and his obsession with Almonds and the small chick fight were amusing, but on the whole I felt the story dragged a bit and I found myself skipping a lot.
The plot was kind of predictable and didn’t really hold much interest for me. The narrow-minded, gossipy townspeople and their snooty attitudes annoyed me. Parts of the story that could have had real depth were glossed over (loss of loved ones, PTSD, Alzheimer’s, forgiveness) so the story itself felt rather shallow to me. The twist at the end was way out of left field and kind of hard to buy into. I know a lot of people loved this story, but it was just ok for me.
Quotes:
“I’ve found the greatest heroes are often the ones least interested in accepting the title.”
“Sure, he lost the braces and grew two feet and got better looking, but he would never find your clit. Not even if it had an almond on it.”
"it’s the people who hurt the most who inflict the most pain.”
"I was happier than a tornado in a trailer park."
"The world is cruel and hard. People put you in a box and try to keep you there. What I’ve learned is when you find the person who believes in you, hold on to him or her and never let go."

4.5 Keep Your Promises CROWNS
Tia Louise never fails to give me the best heroes. They are always these alpha, possessive me who have insecurities underneath that also make me want to snuggle up with them and tell them it will be okay. Gray is this man. I couldn’t have loved his character more. His trials and tribulations from youth to adulthood make him endearing, and his passion and devout love of Drew is what romances are made of. Perfect.
Drew is nothing but compassionate. It radiate from who she is. Her kindness is part of her makeup. Underneath this heart of gold, though, is a sultry temptress. She yields her sexuality against Gray when needed, and I kind of love that about her.
There are many obstacles in the way of these two, from best friends little sister to wrong side of the track status, but these two fight through it all to be together. Their love is pure and true, and their HEA is worth the ride.
Tia Louise always delivers super steamy romances with heart. The characters are endearing, their love hard fought, and the reward is that ever sought after HEA. Basically, the epitome of romance.

What a roller coaster ride of emotions this newest book by Tia Louise took me on. Grayson and Drew’s journey to their happily ever after was bumpy. They knew each other as kids, Drew was Grayson’s best friend’s little sister, their story was the forbidden kind. Grayson is constantly reminded how he is not good enough and is even threatened to keep his hands off of her, but with their chemistry, it was inevitable. When Drew turned 16 and Gray 20, they finally gave into their feelings, but had to hide it from everyone. I was so angry with how Gray was treated in town, this eventually made Gray realize he really was not good enough. So when he and Danny, Drew’s brother, have orders to serve 4 years overseas, even though Gray promises to return to Drew, he told her to move on. My heart broke for Gray with what he endured while serving. There were a few scenes with Danny that made me cringe, again with emotions all over the place, I was angry, and then so much sadness. Gray finally returns home, but he has changed, he is suffering from PTSD and is so lost. He still feels like Drew can have better than him, but when she finally gives up and tries to move on, Gray is reminded what Drew really means to him and knew he could not let her go. But again, the feelings of unworthiness rears its ugly head, but this time Drew refuses to give up.
I debated quite a bit on what to rate this book. I really had some issues with the townsfolk, Danny and their father. They made me so angry! But both Drew and Gray had such strength and compassion and the love they had for each other made this a 4-star read for me.

This was my first book by Tia Louise and it checked so many of my favorite boxes! It's a brother's best friend, second chance, military romance with a slightly forbidden element. Grayson is an outsider in their small town, the nephew off a mechanic who is not expected to make much of himself. So besides the fact that Drew is his best friend's sister, she is also off limits because for some reason her father doesn't think he is good enough for her.
From the begining, Gray has issues dealing with his self worth and he truly believes Andrea deserves better than him. Their attraction is too strong to deny though and they end up having a secret relationship. I really loved Drew. She knew exactly what she wanted and she definitely wanted Grayson Cole. She was the one that kept on pushing till he gave in and I just love a girl who takes charge. Their chemistry was seriously hot but when it came to the actual act, I found it monotonous and a bit lacking.
Gray deals with issues of survivor's guilt and PTSD after his time in the military and I thought these topics were tackled really well. Drew really was supportive through it all and was the perfect partner.
The secondary characters were such a great addition to this story. Ruby was Drew's Korean best friend who was so lovable and bubbbly and added humor to the book. We also get almond obsessed Ralph who I thought was just a hilarious character especially since he wasn't trying to be. Of course there is some OW drama but no worries, Gray showed absolutely no interest and all the characters that carried small town gossip were also a great addition.
My main critique is that the story at times didn't seem to flow well. It almost fet like there were certain parts that were deleted, like you missed something and this made it difficult to read at some points. Overall though I did enjoy it and I loved Gray and Drew! This is definitely an author I will be trying again!

Tia Louise writes delicious romances and I absolutely loved Make You Mine!!!

I love Tia Louise and Make You Mine was another exceptional example of why! This super sexy, angsty second chance/brother’s best friend romance had me reading it nonstop from the moment I picked it up. I didn’t want it to end… seriously, like ever! Make You Mine was superbly well written. It sucked me in completely and the characters—Drew and Gray—owned me. With all the obstacles in the way of their relationship, I would imagine most people folding and walking away for good. Only, Drew and Gray were meant for one another and Drew’s determination brought the couple through truly heartbreaking events. She was fierce!!! And she wasn’t going to be bowed over by the pressure of outside forces. She fought tooth and nail for her man. And Gray? His love ran deep but he needed someone to fight for him, to show faith in him and prove that he was far more that the nobody nephew of a mechanic. He needed to believe in himself. While the story is a brother’s best friend romance, it’s also a poignant military romance. As such, Tia Louise wrote scenes that brought me to my knees, my heart squeezed painfully, and tears poured from my eyes. Yet, I also found myself laughing out loud in other moments and that dichotomy was incredibly well done. It’s not easier to lead readers from one emotional extreme to another and Tia shows true brilliance in her ability to seamlessly guide readers through all the emotions of a romance as complex as Drew and Grey’s. I can’t wait to read this book again. And again… It will surely be your next five-star read so one-click Make You Mine IMMEDIATELY!
