I really enjoyed the political aspect of this book and I liked how strong and independent of a woman Vaasa was but something about this book I found hard to connect to and I felt myself zoning out a lot.
“I have collected a thousand words, and yet I cannot find a single one to tell you what comes alive inside of me when you are near.”
desperately hitting myself in the head with a giant rock to try and forget that line so it won't haunt me for the rest of my days

It's been a long time since I read a romantasy this good.
The Serpent and the Wolf follows Vaasa and Reid, two people from different sides of a battle stuck in a marriage.
"Husband will do, given it's my other title."
Vaasa sneered, her upper lip curling. "We are not married."
"Respectfully, I disagree."
The banter is great, and the tension and chemistry is off-the-charts. The slow burn is set to my perfect level.
The best part: the political elements. The romance is the perfect balance to what is a high stakes political story that truly delivers.
I devoured the story, eating up every interaction between the characters, the growth they experience, and learning more about this unique and refreshing magic system.
Highly recommend if you enjoyed The Bridge Kingdom, Heartless Hunter and One Dark Window.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
The Serpent and the Wolf was such an engaging and atmospheric read. Rebecca Robinson weaves a story full of tension, intrigue, and vivid detail that kept me turning pages late into the night. The world-building was rich, and the characters felt layered and compelling—I especially enjoyed how their choices and struggles drove the story forward in such a natural way. There’s a perfect balance of action, suspense, and emotion that made the book hard to put down.
The only reason I held back half a star is that there were a couple of moments where I wished for just a little more depth or explanation, but overall it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the journey. A fantastic, captivating read that I’d happily recommend to anyone who loves dark, immersive storytelling.
