This is my all-time favorite book. Anyone interested in getting inside the mind of a man between the ages 18-30 would benefit from reading this book. I recommend to all over the age of 18.

What a terrible guy. Pretentious, selfish, and immature. He’s sexually frustrated and takes it out on everyone he dates. Blames them all for his inequities. Not to mention very insecure. There’s zero character development. He is given the chance to redeem himself over and over again but can’t find fault in anything he’s done, only the women he’s been with.

Good writing you get a star for that.

In High Fidelity, Rob Fleming is a fascinating narrator/protagonist. He is sometimes very insightful, sometimes tedious and annoying, and sometimes a self-serving ass. I enjoyed the novel, the writing is solid, and I particularly enjoyed the various music and pop-culture references. An entertaining read.

Books are usually better than movies and this is no exception. And I love the movie.

I love this movie. I love this book. They are two seperate works though. The book is set in England while the movie is set in Chicago. The one theme that remains the same is a love of music and a love of, well, love.

Rob was kind of a jerk. Laura was kind of a jerk. At the same time, they were both somehow very endearing and human. This wasn't as funny as I thought it would be, but it was an enjoyable story.

One of the rare occasions where the TV series is better than the book...

Idk. I had a whole review of the book written out by the time I was halfway through, and now I feel like it was too harsh. Regardless, my initial opinions still stand—it’s somewhat entertaining and funny, though it mostly drones on and on and proves that Rob is just a mid guy. Most of the time I was given no reason to empathize or side with Rob. I do feel like it is kind of real and relatable to the mid-thirties demographic, but I don’t know. Also, somewhat subtle misogyny sprinkled throughout the book—was that just me? Anyway, I was looking forward to reading this book, but it was just ok for me. Solid 3 stars

Main character was sulky and cranky but I still couldn’t put it down. Fun read.
