Main character was sulky and cranky but I still couldn’t put it down. Fun read.

Hauska ja hauskalla tavalla viisas romaani äänilevyistä ja rakkaudesta (ja rakkaudesta äänilevyihin).
Excellent example of why you can’t always trust a first person narrator. I hated Rob, but I was contented for his happiness. Very well written.

This was a nice, easy read. I liked how candid and raw the narrator was. It felt like getting into the mind of a commitment shy man and hearing his train of thought while dating and in relationships. I found the music/record store setting and undertones nice and unique. I would like to read more Hornby to see if I like his other stuff too.
1. British Humor

I've always been a fan of this movie. Having seen it so many times, I doubt I can divorce the two and consider the book on it's own merit..
Regardless, Rob is awful. And worse in the book. Constantly saying the quiet part out load, as it were. Relentlessly so. This is the level of cynicism that appeals to my sense of humor. Add in some music nerds/snobs amped up with the same over-the-top cynical treatment, and of course I like this book.
Also, was Barry just perfectly cast, or is it that I just can't not summon Jack Black's performance, having ingrained it before reading the book?

One of my top 5, all time favorite movies, and I am thrilled I finally got around to reading the book. Really enjoyed it, and was so happy to see a lot of the dialogue from the movie was plucked straight from the book. Great read!!!
