This book hit all the spots you want in a fantasy romance novel.

Mysterious Fae ✅
Powerful Underdog ✅
Badass Female Leads ✅
Twists and Turns ✅

I love the dynamic that @day_leitao_ya has created between all the characters, and you find yourself rooting for them every step of the way.

The antagonists in this book made my skin crawl- which is always a sign of amazing writing.

I can’t wait to read the second.

To say this book was a rollercoaster is an understatement. I'm so happy there's a second book because there's a lot going on and a lot happened in those last 5  chapters. I really liked the magic system of this book, it kind of encompasses all things fantasy. You have dragons, you have fae, you have necromancers, something called deathbringers  and so much more. Idk about you all but books with dragons sign me up.

The love, the betrayal, adopted children rep, disabled but not letting that disability define you rep. There's a lot going on in this series and you really don't want to miss out on it.

This was full of all of my favorite comfort things!
✔️Fantasy
✔️Romance
✔️Multi POV
✔️Mystery
✔️Hot/badass characters

I devoured this book! It fit right in with my current fantasy era kick I’m on. Amazing world building and magic system.

Usually not a fan of following two different timelines in books, but this was done really well and I wasn’t confused at all. It definitely added a whole new element to the story.

Looking forward to book 2!

Naia Umbraar was raised to be her brother's second when he eventually takes over ruling his father's kingdom. But has anyone ever asked Naia what she wants? She is not as strong in her iron magic as Fel is, it makes sense that he would inherit the kingdom. One night, she stumbles upon an unconscious white Fae and nurses him back to health. The white Fae and the humans have been at war for decades and were believed to be gone, but does this mean they have returned? That another war is on the horizon? After a shared kiss, the Fae named River disappears, only to show himself again when the castle in Frostlake is being attacked. But Naia does not believe he is capable of such evil, and River seems to only want to protect her.

Leah is the princess of Frostlake and is smitten with Fel, the only prince she willingly wants to marry. But when promises are broken and an official proposal from Fel never comes, her parents marry her off to the prince of Ironhold.

With Naia trying to figure out her future with River on top of her new fire magic that can't be explained, and Leah dealing with powers that can't possibly be from her necromancy gift, the pending war between the Fae and the humans becomes imminent. Only, there are so many questions and answers to them that do not make sense, and Leah has to learn the hard way that maybe the traitors in Aluria are not the Fae, but rather the family she married into.

My thoughts:
I really enjoyed the story line of this book. Naia is a strong woman who wants to take her destiny into her own hands and River is really a sweet soul. Leah and Fel are meant to be but finding their way back to each other is a dangerous road to take. There was so much action, so much adventure and the world building was so good. The magic and lore was so intricately woven and the mystery kept me on my toes. There is so much the teenagers don't know and it is revealed really well. I liked the chapters that skipped to 20 years ago that explained River's side of the story and how he ended up in the woods the night Naia found him. So many twists and turns. I did find some of the dialogue a bit childish but it is YA and I didn't feel like it took anything away from the story. I really enjoyed this read ❤️
