Corrie ten Boom

Beautiful story of faith and transformation by the Holy Spirit despite the horrid circumstances of WW2.

This is a book that has changed the way I look at life. I love that I can read about one of the most horrific moments in human history and come away feeling uplifted and inspired. Amidst heartbreak and cruelty is the constant message of courage, faith and hope. How would this world be different if we all approached daily life as wonderfully as Corrie ten Boom?

I enjoyed reading this book. At first, I had a hard time getting started and getting into it. I realized the reality and the truth of things that had happened in this book. I wasn't sure I was really prepared to read something so serious. But as I got further along, I couldn't out it down. It is a truly amazing story of sacrifice, charity, and faith.

Corrie Ten Boom lived with her sister and father above the family business in Haarlem Holland. They were a family fo watchmakers and devout Christians. During the German occupation of Holland, they found a new work. Because of the treatment of Jews during WWII, the Ten Booms decided to take in Jews and help them into hiding. Prior to her arrest, they were hiding 9 Jews who became like family to them. Eventully, their secret was leaked and Corrie, sister Betsie, and their father were arrested.

They were put in prison for several months and then Corrie and Betsie were sent to a concentration/work camp. The livign condition were very unfortunate. But because they were able to sneak in a Bible and were able to read it from cover to cover several times, they were able to find the faith they needed to get past their trials. They were grateful for everything up until their release.

Corrie went on to do amazing work after her release. She was able to help other POW's rehabilitate and forgive those who had done wrong unto them.

After reading this book, it encourages me to be grateful for my blessings and even more grateful for my trials. I have learned from this that the trials we face may seem that they will never end and we will never be happy. but that there ia light at the end of the tunnel and that I can overcome and become stronger.

Honestly one of the best books I’ve ever read! Idk why it took me this long to read it

Every Christian and historically interested person must read this book. It is now my favorite nonfiction work.

Loved it.
It left me with a feeling of love for all humans and a desire to be a better person.

Interesting but very very preachy about the Christian faith, which is kinda tone deaf on a story about the massacre of Jews...but really incredible story!

Probably one of the best books I've read this year. It is very inspiring, and it is a great first-hand account of what it was kind in some Nazi concentration camps.

I know I’m late to the party on this book but WOW! I loved it. It really had me reflecting on the depth of my own faith in Christ as I read the sisters’ struggles. Engaging and renewing read. A beautiful reminder that God is always at the helm.

New favorite. If you haven't read it or it's been a while- read it. 'Nuff said.
