i'm trying to read all the classics that we recently inherited. this was the first one i chose.

it was funny at times, interesting...of course, written extremely well. or should i say "translated" well?

anyway. not a disappointment, but what do you expect from what most literary critics call one of the greatest works of German Literature....

RPL 2024 open books challenge: A book by a German author (fiction).

Well, if you're gonna read a book by a German, go big or go home, I guess. Pleased that I can still read enough German where I could follow the German text on the opposing page (and I liked to read it out loud to appreciate the beauty of the language, much to the chagrin of others nearby).
