Read these books so fast because the writing is really fast-paced. This book is interesting because the gang is in New York City instead of Ferryport landing like in all the other books. We get to read Puck's backstory and the girls' parents backstory, especially Veronica.

Best one in the series so far. More intrigue, less predictability. Sabrina still whines a lot, but at least starts to understand herself a little better. I'm still really hoping the whining is over, because there has definitely been enough of it. One thing that did bother me about this book was the absolutely ridiculous situation that the foster care/orphanage put the girls into. Before this, their previous foster parents were mostly believable, even if it was unlikely, and this time it was just too far-fetched and ruined some of the book because of it.

1. Granny clearly said that the cow did not jump over the moon in Book 1.
2. Why is Gulliver in NYC if the Lilliputians are in Ferrytown?
3. How did Puck get into Ferrytown 10 yrs ago due to the barrier? Jake damaged it 12 years ago.
4. Dickens is a poor fit.
5. What I do like is Buckley makes every little bit count. There are no extraneous details or characters' he uses everything (except for that bit about Silver). Would middle school kids understand the humor in that scene?
6. Now will Sabrina calm down and be less oppositional (or at least quit being oppositional for the express purpose of being oppositional)?

vividly remember this one being my favourite back in the day but it's got so much packed into it & it's so messy abt it that i STRUGGLED.

also feel the need to clarify that when i say that the character development is "complicated" it's because the author is allergic to consistency in sabrina's characerisation & her arc. girl goes through the same 3 epiphanies every book & then just. reverts back to the beginning in each book. i can fix her (narrative progression).

Relda accent check: I think this is its final form for now, it's pretty thick and I love it

Ugh I love this book. Though,
Justice for Cobweb, that man died and no one even really blinked. It took a metaphorical smack over the head for Sabrina to even go "oh my gosh he wasn't the murderer!"
Also I need everyone to know that as a kid this book was pure New York City propaganda

Anyway, these read really well back to back because the stories are all subsequent and pick up where the last left off, but I need you to take a moment to imagine being 10 years old and reading these books as they come out and then having to wait for however long until the next one was out. Apparently it was literally less than a year between this one and book 5, but that's forever when you're a kid and the local chapters unreliably has these books in stock

Also, every Everafter in New York City is in love with Veronica and I get it because so am I. The tagline of this book could be: Veronica's milf origin story
