Fiction, Children's, Fairy Tale, Adventure

I read all of these books and absolutely fell in love with them!! I think it must have been 3rd grade but i’m not sure. I was obsessed with them!!

The story is about two sisters (sabrina and daphne) who have been bounced around the foster system when they find their grandma. They go to live with their grandma even though they don’t want to. Her grandma has a big dog. they learn that the whole town is full of fairytale characters. there is also puck who they didn’t get along with at first but eventually they do and later sabrina and him find out that they are each other’s true love. I remember a lot more little details but I’m not sure how to connect them lol. Anyways they find out that their parents aren’t really dead and we’re kidnapped by the scarlet hand and put to sleep and can only be woken up with true loves kiss, but they are both asleep and each other’s true love. but then the girls kiss them and it wakes them up and they defeat the scarlet hand and live happily ever after:)
Other things:
-Baba Yaga and her house with chicken legs
-The grandma has a big st bernard
-Puck had his own magical room at the grandma's house with like a whole world inside
-The cops were the three little pigs lol
-Snow White was Daphne's teacher

omg i loved these books so much i really should reread them. I was obsessed with fairy tales for a long time and I read and listened to these books lots of times.

My childhood books which according to my 17 year old self, are still amazing. I can't wait for my niece & nephew to read them in a few years!

I really enjoyed this installment of the series. I loved the interactions of Everafters with the chaos that is NYC and the ways they found to use their gifts to survive there. I had some suspicions about the identity of the killer but other developments took me by surprise. The emotional growth of Sabrina in this book was impressive and realistic, especially for a Fairy Tale Detective. Considering that it had been over a year since I read book 3, I was able to get back into the thread of the story without feeling lost. Looking forward to book 5.

Where were these books when I was a kid? I guess a kid at heart is better than nothing. I am really enjoying these, and the fact that this one was set in NYC, just made it so much more enjoyable. My fave in the series thus far. The author has done a nice job with Serena and her sister, Daphne. They seem like real girls to me. We see new little layers of their personality in every book. I especially like that Serena is a normal hormonal tween, despite her abnormal existence. I enjoyed reading her struggle to resist or accept her family's destiny in this book. Daphne is just fun, sweet and lovable, yet tough. I can't wait to read their next adventure.

Still fantastic. This story is a bit more complex than the previous stories as it is a bit messy. But I would attribute it to the fact that Buckley tries to fit in the other Everafter world of NYC into one story, all while trying to fit in its magical politics and the actual plot of the story itself. It definitely feels a bit rushed. However, it also makes sure that this series doesn't drag. We are introduced to some more romance, more action, and murder itself. The world building is also still my favorite part, learning more about how this magical world weaves itself into the world that we know. There's also another part about responsibility and destiny which people might expect is too mature or difficult to be understood by the intended age group, but was still crafted extremely well.
There's some weird plot things that anyone could easily pick on. The fact that Everafters in NYC are free to roam while Ferryport Landing in particular are trapped does not make much sense. Why were those Everafters punished despite the variety in threat level of the Everafters both in and out the barrier? I'm sure Buckley did this to use the popular location NYC, but yeah it doesn't make a lot of sense. Still enjoyable though.

We left off the last book with a wingless and injured Puck, who desperately needs to go back to his fairy people to get properly healed. However, the fairies have settled in an abstract part of New York City, and thus the Grimms and Mr. Canis need to tear a hole in the protection spell in order to rescue Puck. They do so and end up on a whole adventure to meet Oberon and Titania. But when Oberon is shockingly murdered, the Grimm sisters must find the killer before the killer finds Puck!

I did enjoy this story and it's diverted course from the Ferryport Landing setting, though towards the middle-end of the book when the girls are searching for clues about their mother, I think the story just got too confusing with too many new characters. This could have been separated into two books I think, one with Puck and the fairies at the head, and one with the Grimms exploring New York and meeting Oz, Long John Silver, etc in another story. I felt it was a little jumbled together for me. But enjoyable nonetheless! I'll be reading the next one soon :)

Takes the series to New York for Midsumemr Nights dream meets Godfather treatment.

One of the things I like about this series is how much fun the author has with the source material. I especially like when the characters are handed lterature (this case Shakespeare) and told this is the best source material.
