Lately it’s like every other book I read is getting a low star review. I figure it’s because I have been reviewing a lot of first time authors lately who are still trying to find their voice. I was planning to review Hers by Dawn Robertson as a first time author and give her the same benefit I give all my first time authors, a little leeway. That was until I got halfway through and realize that I had heard this voice before.

I am not here trying to warn you about plagiarism, from what I can tell this is an original piece of fiction, be it a poorly written one. I’m talking about the fact that I have read and been disappointed by this writer before. I say writer now, because honestly an author has to tell a story and this wasn’t a story, this was a poorly put together, shabbily edited group of sentences strung together. I work hard for my money and you should work hard writing if you expect me to pay for your work. So you can understand why I was upset to learn that this writer is parading herself around to be new to the scene misrepresenting herself as someone you’ve never read before. Well, I have read her, and been let down by her both times. If I had seen this book on Amazon and it had the correct author attached to it I wouldn’t have bought it, but I was swindled!

This book fails in my eyes where all of the writer’s books fail. Consistency, plain and simple. Right in the beginning Seven talks about how deep her and Daniel’s love is and how perfect they are together. Three paragraphs later they break up and she jumps both feet into the deep end of the psycho pool. The break up would be a great catalyst for the rest of the story and how Seven became a Dom. Real people don’t react like that from one extreme to the other and if they do they need to be medicated. Once again though this writer falls short of the mark by hinting at back-story that is never discussed, I shouldn’t be surprised this is the third time this writer has taken a potentially awesome characters, an interesting plot line and some substance to the story and sh*t the bed with them.

Unfortunately the only thing that might be considered endearing, real or promising was the sex scenes and even they fall short. Have read amazing erotica with plot, and that is where this writer loses me, eventually I like a little bit of story with my sex but it felt like she was hoping that the steamy parts would mask the fact that there is no real book here.

If you are like me and trying to avoid Danielle Elwood and the disappointment she brings you should probably steer clear of “Dawn Robertson”. I have no problem with pen names. I have a huge problem with indie authors who start under a new pen name to get away from their own bad press but don’t actually do anything to better their writing so we the poor unsuspecting readers get swindled out of our hard earned money thinking we are reading someone new. There is nothing new to review here other then the names being hanged. Same ball dropped on the plot, character development and editing skills we’ve come to expect from Danielle.

A little bit hard core for me in some of the book.

Wow. That's all I have right now - just WOW. What a full on story this is.

Seven James is damaged beyond repair, or so she thinks. She has immersed herself in a world that she believes is protecting her. But what if the barriers she has put up are not quite as strong as she has led herself to believe?

Into Seven's life walks Levi. She does to him what she has done to every other male who has walked into her life in recent years - she has her way with him and has him walk away. Her rules, her protection, the only way she knows how.

Seven is a successful businesswoman. She has used that success to try and get revenge on the one man she actually cared for. She has planned it for years and she will let nothing get in her way. But what she doesn't plan on is Levi making an appearance and spoiling her well laid plans in a way she could never imagine.

This is a very hot story, with adult themes and various sex acts. These scenes are very well written, as is the rest of the book. The twists and turns the author throws in makes this a story worth reading. It also leads the way into her next book, Finding Willow.

This is the authors debut book and I for one look forward to reading everything she brings out in the future. She is definitely one to look out for.

I've read so many stories that are like this. It was entertaining, moved too fast and was just entirely unbelievable. I can see that the author knows what she's doing though... just wish she'd built more depth to her characters. I didn't connect with any of them.

❤️❤️❤️❤️
Holy hottness!!!
I loved Hers, it told an awesomely messed up story of Seven James, the child of nomad hippies, a girl who thinks no one will ever love or want her after years of being told she is nobody and the only boyfriend she ever had ripping her heart out and stomping on it. What does a girl do after having a life like Seven? Revenge and sex, she comes into her sexuality and opens her eyes to all experiences, she also becomes a business shark taking over companies and rebuilding them.
One night at a Sinners and Swingers she meets what she thinks is fresh meat, turns into the hottest sex of her life. Can she walk away from Levi like she needs to or will Levi make his way not only into her bed but her heart?
Levi has never met someone like Seven, hot tattooed dominant, who has sex with him the way he needs and likes it. Once was not enough for him, he wanted more and working with her, he was sure to make her know it. The sex between them was explosive and passionate, the need for each other was evident in their passion, the desire for each other was evident when they were near each other.

" Corset? Check.
Crotchless panties? Check.
Vibrator? Check.
Condoms? Check."

With a quote like that you know it will be an awesome chapter!!
This book not only had hot sex but a great story as well, Dawn sucked me in wondering what Seven was going to decide to do in revenge and meaningless sex and what she would do the second night with Levi at Sinners and Swingers.
One click this book you won't be disappointed.

I really wanted to like this but it just wasn’t for me. It felt very much like a try hard, self insert story. The writing was very blunt and harsh, as were the characters and their storylines. At times, I physically cringed (check my highlights for further explanation)
