**Summary:**

This book follows the animals on a farm. One day, they decide that they are going to run their owner off the farm and run the farm themselves.
At first, it all starts out fine. Everyone got along fine. But overtime, a pig by the name of Napoleon starts rising to the top. And putting himself on top along with the pigs and the dogs. But no one will outrank Napoleon. So whenever someone questions the ethics of Napoleon it is met with something of “Napoleon is doing this for you.” And “how dare you question our great leader”. Almost like Napoleon wants to brain wash the animals into thinking that he is a good leader when in reality he is not as great as he is making himself out to be.

**Thoughts:**

I thought that this book was just okay. There was nothing really special about it. And I can totally see what it was trying to do. And i think that it can be relevant today depending on how you read it.
I am not the biggest fan of classics but I do see myself rereading this book. Especially if I am doing a 24 hour readathon.

George Orwell gaslights the animals hard in this book. It's pretty fast-paced and entertaining albeit a tad dark for children.

This is probably my favourite book of all time. I have only read it twice so far and I can’t stop thinking about it.
Small Spoiler Below
As a part of my grade 12 politics class, we watched a series of lectures called ‘The American Paradox’ by Heather Cox Richardson and it’s available free on youtube, and essentially it was american equality is based on inequality and the fear the becoming equal will make everything unequal. I though about this when I reached the ‘All animals are equal but some are more equal than other’ line and holy shit. (That was the series thesis and I read animal farm after that)

I loved the writing style and after I started reading I just kept reading. It also has a great audiobook version on spotify. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

As of today, this has been one of the only classic's that I have really enjoyed. I thought that the story and writing was great. This book is able to teach a lot and has a great message.

I read this book in one sitting, I definitely recommend it to others because it is a quick and easy read that can provide some insight and perspective.
