Garth Nix does not pull his punches in this long awaited finish to the Keys to the Kingdom series. Arthur, the Heir, has almost completely changed from human boy to Denizen while trying to acquire the 7 keys and 7 pieces of the Architect's Will. He struggles with the power of the keys and the loss of his human self, yet still manages to do the terrible job for which he was chosen. His friends stand by him to the ultimate, astounding finish. If you love Harry Potter, the Keys series is for you. Highly recommended
I've all but stopped reading YA in the years since I read this (just OK) series, but I'll never forget how stunningly this ends. No spoilers, but there's one line (revealing that something said by one of the characters was a lie) that elevated the entire conclusion. The final boss of YA fantasy bombast.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, kinda feel like this book was a cop out. I think a lot of authors start a series and then are like.. fuck, why'd I make it this long, and I got that feeling with this series, and mostly with this book. If anything, there needed to be one more book just about Arthur and his new power and what he'll do with it, bleh bleh bleh. SPOILER: it also didnt make sense that he decided to do exactly the same thing as the previous architect, because... that worked out so well before? wat wat wat wat
