Wow - we finally finished this series! If I could, I'd give this series 3.5 stars - we liked it but didn't love it. Very interesting ending, that is more of a beginning. Loved the main character - he was a true hero as he struggled with becoming less and less human, but he managed to hang onto little bits of his humanity. It was quite a commitment, but we are proud of ourselves that we finished it!

I've been wondering about this series ever since the first few books came out, but I decided to wait until all of the books were out before I read the series. The initial concept was interesting, but by the end I felt like the story was dragging a little. My final feelings: not bad, but I don't have any plans to read them again.

Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

A satisfying conclusion, if a bit rushed.

So I finally got all 7 books and read them all. I really like the whole series. It's not as good as the Abhorsen series but very solid. I was surprised at the ending of this book although maybe I should have guessed it all along. Like the His Dark Materials books, don't give this to your kids if you don't want them to question sunday school. Very neat alternative theology/origin myth. Each book on it's own is 3 stars but the series gets 4 stars.

AUGH This series was Very Good. I've really enjoyed everything I've read by Garth Nix so far.

What a great ending to this series!

I was quite surprised at how this ended, but I'm really happy about it. It wasn't a perfect happily ever after, but it was good and felt realistic. I loved how Arthur's friends helped him with this War and retrieving the keys of the kingdom.

Arthur's humanity and his friendships were probably my favorite part of this series. It's weird, it doesn't feel like the series is over. Also, we finally get the whole story about the Architect, which I have been waiting for the entire time. Now everything makes sense and I can go on with my life lol.

I kind of wish there was an extended epilogue since I'd love to see
exactly how Art, Suzy and the other denizens remade the House and everything else.
Overall, this was such a great series and it was really easy to read.

4,5*
100. kniha roku 2014.

Boží zakončení série nabité odkazy na křesťanství a trochu i na antiku to celé promíchané s dobrodružstvím malého chlapce a jeho cestou za získáním moci nad vesmírem.

3 STARS

A good ending to the series, although the climax was somewhat anticlimactic and predictable.
The Will and the Old Man came together to form the Architect, who was bored of life and limitless power and wanted to die; the glitch was, the Old Man was a part of herself with whom she disagreed, and chained with an indestructible chain. So long as the chains remain, the Old Man would be caged, would not re-unite with the Architect and she could not die. She told this after letting Nothing destroy everything, then stepped into Nothing herself. Arthur is now the creator of the universe.
What a power trip. From a mortal boy to all of that, a boy who the entire time was moaning for his old life -- which I personally do not understand. I'd more be like, YEAH, Power!! ;D Probably a good reason for why I shouldn't ever be chosen..

An enjoyable read, with 1 star docked for the too-pat ending. Recommended.
