This Vicious Grace is a YA fantasy about Alessa, who is chosen by the gods to protect her country. The book follows her on her journey to find her magic partner, who can help her save the country. The only problem is that she killed her last three partners.
I loved the dynamic between Alessa and Dante. Alessa is a strong female character who doesn't diminish herself once she finds a partner. I really enjoyed the world building, and the magic system.
This was marketed as a Serpent and Dove meets The Bodyguard, which I have to agree with. I recommend this for any fans of YA fantasy.

I really wish I enjoyed this book more, I wanted to love it and our two main characters. From the start, I just couldn't get into the story, I can't pinpoint what went wrong, maybe nothing. I don't want to fill this review with all the things I didn't like or any of the negative feelings I have about it.
Instead, I'll note the good, I genuinely enjoy the main character, her struggle with her duty, the deaths, and not being able to touch somebody without them dying, whoa. No spoiler, but the moment she gets hugged and the emotions I know she has to be feeling, I really connected to her, the story, and that feeling.
I want to end by saying this is a good book and will be loved by many. It's overall very appealing and just because I personally didn't love it, I know a lot of people will and I definitely recommend it.

Love , friendship and redefining the stereotypes of good and evil.
This vicious grace is set in a stunning yet believable fantasy world based around Italian culture So highly descriptive I could smell this book as I was reading it and I loved the lemon theme throughout.
This goes straight up to one of my favourite reads of the year with a super strong female lead and a morally grey love interest this is exactly what I was missing! A super intense slow burner I couldn’t put this one down!
I cannot wait to see how the series progresses!
I cried like a baby what a great read to get me out of a slump

*Trigger Warnings- *mention and ideation of suicide*
She has a killer touch. As the Finestra it’s rather inconvenient since she needs to touch others to merge powers.
There are only so many Fonte left for Alessa to choose from and she must before Divorando and the scarabeo descend. It’s her only chance at restoring her peoples faith in her saving the island and everyone on it. Everyone is terrified of dying by her touch so it makes the search difficult. Until she meets Dante her new protector. He just can’t protect her heart from him.
Really liked how there were little phrases at the beginning of each chapter. There were some unexpected points that kept it interesting and I couldn’t stop reading!

"How cruel, that sharing someone else's grief did nothing to alleviate it for them."
Oh, I have so many feelings, and I don't know what to do with them. First, I want to gratefully thank the author for giving me a happy enough for now sort of ending that I can feel good about. Gah, more authors need to do this when planning a series. I could create an entire review based on that joy alone. But I digress...
Poor Alessa, I feel like I would risk death to hug her because I cannot even imagine the absolute loneliness of being unable to touch others. And she's so funny! I highlighted so many things she said or thought that made me laugh out loud. Seriously, she and I would become besties. I loved this cast of characters, every single one of them. Even the ones you're supposed to hate were perfectly hateful. Everyone had their quirks, making the book much more fun.
"... but like a flame appears brighter in the darkness, her isolation cut even deeper with a stranger filling spaces usually left empty."
This is such a fun read. It has lore and romance, magic and peril, and a bit of everything. If there was anything I didn't love, it was how we jumped into the middle of the story, and I had no idea what was going on. But Thiede was like, "don't worry, I got you." And my patience paid off. I love, love this book, and I think others will too. Many thanks to St. Martin's for sending this absolute gem along.

I was initially drawn to this book because the premise sorta reminded me of Kingdom of the Wicked. Fantasy with Italian roots, demons, etc. Well, it was very different, but still a lot of fun! There were some pacing problems, but overall very enjoyable. I loved the dynamic between Alessa and Dante, and I really liked all the friendships she ended up making. Looking forward to book two!

Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC of this!
Holy cliffy, Batman - I can’t wait for the next one, I wish I had it right now! This was such an engaging, exciting read, think a mashup of Shatter Me x Kingdom of the Wicked - the main character is meant to absorb, magnify, and weaponize her partner’s power to fight off a great evil… the only problem? The evil is getting closer every day and she keeps accidentally killing her spouses. After becoming a widow three times over, her marriageable options have not shockingly dwindled and the public is wary and losing faith in her ability to save them. The romance was fairly predictable, but I loved it anyway, and I really loved the friendships she had to learn to form.

Promising new fantasy debut with a slow-burn romance and unique, interesting world-building. Alessa has been chosen by the gods to save her island from demons that attack every five years, but to succeed she has to pair with a magic user and amplify their gift in order to defeat the enemy. Unfortunately, the book starts with Alessa attending the third funeral of a spouse; the strength of her gift keeps killing her partners. When she's targeted from all angles, she hires a grumpy loner with excellent fighting skills as her personal guard. Interesting characters all around, great plot, and a solid finale that makes me look forward to book two but not feel insanely frustrated by a cliffhanger ending.
