This was a bit more 'heavy'(?) than I'm used to from Winters.
I've listened to it before, but fell asleep due to the narrator

Such a fun book to read. Although I've only read one other book from this author, I can tell there will be common themes in all, if not most, of her books.
OTT, snarky banter that goes on forever.
One stoic partner and one really chatty partner who may end up driving everyone crazy but they grow to love him.
If you're the type of person who doesn't like formula romances (my beloved Betty Neels falls into this category), then maybe one or two books from this author will be enough for you. As for me, I am definitely eager to read more. I love this kind of formula and I enjoy books that are pure fun.
I did have some concerns though, such as workplace ethics being completely ignored. That bothered me quite a bit, especially when the initiator is in the position of a caretaker while his charge is in a vulnerable state and it is not acceptable. Felix isn't a trained caretaker so it's not a reflection on the caregiver industry and this is just a romance story, so I let this one go. Still irked me though.
There were other niggling issues that I had, like how Felix, a civilian, is allowed into situations most professionals would have been "No, he is NOT allowed to participate". But...eh...again, suspension of belief.
I know it seems like I'm complaining and yet I am still giving it 4 stars. Because I enjoy the formula. The story was really sweet and I like the dynamics between Lane and Felix. There's humour and silliness.
Assuming you don't require your stories to have a strong moral, ethical OR professional code, this book will be just great for you.
I wouldn't start with THIS story as my introduction to the author though.

This was so fun! Like the humor to me felt so unexpected which is what made this delightful. Felix was so funny. I loved how much shit he gave Lane while still helping him with his new life as a blind man.
I also love a crime procedural so this one scratched that itch.
Oh and Joel Leslie again made the audio a fun experience.

This book is a great example of a story that needs to be taken in the context it was written. It's a comedy. It's hysterical if you view as a comedy about people who are in impossible situations and make all the worst choices. If you take it seriously, you probably won't enjoy it.
As an individual with invisible 'disabilities', questionable crisis decision making skills, and a snarky significant other, I thought this book was hilarious. Felix and Lane are perfectly horrible for one another.

This whole series is outrageous, fantastical, and hilarious, not to mention the romance (biggest draw for me). The banter, the descriptions, the superhero-esque antics, it all makes for such a fun ride, not just for this first book, but for the whole trilogy. These books have truly earned their 5 star ratings from me
