I know this is basically an authorized fanfic, but you know what? It retroactively improves the whole series. It does a great job of filling in some plot holes and characterization, and I think it was a pretty good ending to the series.

I enjoyed jumping back into the 3 body world. Lots of the book involves providing new perspectives on what came up in Death's End, and I found a lot of what followed to be more fantastical than the main 3 body books (while still keeping decent emphasis on the sci part of sci-fi like in the main books)

The story is very reverential to the original trilogy, at times feeling a little bit like fan-fic (which it technically is) but still an enjoyable read. I'm definitely not counting it as canon though

I thought that this was book 2 of the series when I started. But it was actuaLLY occurring after the 4 book series. I did not really enjoy book 1 though, so . . . I think I am done with this series.

An interesting book that addressed some of the questions I had while reading the initial books, but the resolutions weren't always convincing. Characters were well done and the overall idea was excellent. Unfortunately, large chunks of the book gave story over to heavy exposition. I think the problems with the last book in the original series were very present here as well. It's still an interesting addition to the story.

I took quite a few breaks while reading this book. At last it’s over. It’s not a bad book at all. Has some good moments. The things is, since it’s fan fiction (even though Cixin Liu “approves” this book) I cannot force myself to take it as canon. It’s like you are listening to someone else’s ideas about a film you both saw. Sure, some things stick, but most don’t quite resonate well with your thoughts.

I also found the writing to be confusing at times. Anyways, not bad, but can’t take it as a real part of the original subject matter. Congrats to the author for his good timing, I guess!
