A wonder-filled adventure that never takes itself too seriously, if you've read the first book in the series, then you know exactly what you're getting. My only issue with this novel is that it likes to meander for the first half of the novel and lacks any sort of agency on the part of the protagonist. Jones tries to tie in not being able to choose as part of the plot and character's development which is fine if he had some sort of agency in another way, which I found lacking. All-in-all, though I loved it as will anyone else who loves Jones's flavor of magic.

quick paced, perceptive and engaging. must get my hands on the rest in the series.
I liked this book better than the first installment in this series (even though that one was similarly cleverly written). Surprisingly, for a children’s book, it has a character that isn’t purely bad.
