I would love to listen to an updated version of this book. This one came out in 2016, so I hope in 2 years another edition comes out with 10 more years of her essays/speeches. While I don’t fully grasp all the concepts in this book, it gave me a lot of insight and challenged many preconceived notions. It gave me a lot of things to think about and ruminate on.

While I loved and appreciated the overarching themes of this book, all of the speeches therein were super redundant. It felt as though I was reading the same speech over and over again with nearly identical talking points and examples. That said, Davis’s messages are as applicable now as they were 10 years ago when this book was written. my rating is in no way informed by the purpose of the book, I was just hoping for more opportunities to learn about the interconnectedness between Ferguson, Palestine, and other transnational movements.

3.5 This is a collection of interviews and speeches by Angela Davis. From the title I was expecting this to be much more internationally-focused but it's mostly focused American issues with mentions of the importance of intersectionality. I had very different expectations of what this would be about but it was still worth reading.
