I discovered this book based on a review that praised The Hurting Kind for being poetry that is extremely accessible to readers who are new to the genre, and that's exactly what it is. So many of the emotions in each poem are so relatable; I never felt like I was being overwhelmed with language that alienated me, only that I was seeing emotions I'd experienced there in front of me, in someone else's words. The poetry is beautiful, and I've definitely found some of my favourite new words.

My favorite poet always inspires me to write! I finished this one and instead of jumping to my computer to jot down my thoughts I grabbed my pen and notebook instead.
I loved the section on Winter the most - it was very reflective of her family and I love reading poems inspired by people!
