Bello, bello, bellissimo.

One of the things I love about fiction is that it can give you incites into the lives of people very different from yourself. I must admit that, especially as a preteen/teen, I was sometimes guilty of judging others for things that, in retrospect, were beyond their control. It's books like this that help to expand my mind on such issues by showing me a different point of view.

This is a very sweet middle grade book! I can’t decide if it’s something I would have actually liked as a younger reader, but it was a fun read that somehow doesn’t shy away from the realities of capitalist exploitation while also remaining pretty wholesome. I’m looking forward to reading some more Kelly Yang!
