I stand with the those who say this piece of work should never ever have been published.
Reader beware: Go Set A Watchman is quite frankly legacy destroying for Lee.
I cannot and will not accept Atticus as a racist. Nope. No thank you. No way.
I recommend this to no one and refuse to accept this as canon.

Loved it! Thought provoking. This book isn't rewriting the "to kill a mockingbird" universe: it's not about racism it's about Scout growing up.

This book continues to explore the complicated issue of race (while it seems all the main characters are white - red flag), while showing how our childhood heroes (Atticus) fall short. I was dissatisfied and disappointed by this book
I didnt like to kill a mockingbird and I didn’t like this either - but then I got it in my head that maybe Lee secretly hates the veneration of Atticus Finch and wrote this to kill her darlings and honestly im a bit here for it - the worst thing about Lee’s writing is that she hits you over the head again and again with the point of the book, and when that point is some liberal shite that society needs racists and non racists to exist (lmaooo what) its such a slog to read.
Tbf though Reese witherspoon did a wonderful job of reading the audiobook!!

I'm a little bit embarrassed to admit that I cannot for the life of me remember what happens in [b:To Kill a Mockingbird|2657|To Kill a Mockingbird|Harper Lee|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1361975680s/2657.jpg|3275794]. I enjoyed Go Set a Watchman though I finished it still somewhat confused. There was a disconnect between what I wanted to believe about Atticus and what I was supposed to believe about Hank.
This is not a great read. Contrary to popular belief, it is not a sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird. It is basically a first draft of what would become To Kill a Mockingbird. The book was published under a bit of controversy as well. The original manuscript was discovered in Harper Lee’s personal documents nearly 40 years after it was written and might not have been published with her consent. While it wasn’t a great book, it is interesting to see early versions of characters that we’ve become familiar like Atticus Finch. This is probably the only reason I would recommend this book, to see those early versions of the characters we see in To Kill a Mockingbird.
