Thank you to the author for this ARC. I’m not sure exactly why but this book doesn’t capture the fun and entertainment of the first book of the series, “Viciously Yours.” It had many great parts but the majority felt tedious. The marketing is correct. This is unhinged and a romance set in a fantasy world. It’s not a fantasy in that the world building is built on the ricketiest base ever. There are all these rules about mating and creatures with certain timing and it makes no sense and everything has an exception.
While I do appreciate our virgin King Roman with his obsession over Violet I found myself not believing their relationship. Violet has slight “pick me” energy with her flower crowns and shell collecting. She is “not like other girls” apparently and no one likes her but likes her aggressive twin sister instead. (Do people like self absorbed bullies anymore?) Vivian’s dislike of Violet also made little sense. Their parents don’t seem toxic so why did one person end up being such a villain? We have a slow burn that erupts into some graphic scenes that almost felt comical and at times awkward. I did feel that the story was way too long and I did get an ARC so I hope the finished copy corrects the grammatical errors. There was a deodorant crystal. We could have cut that scene.
The best part of the story are the love letters. That’s what was amazing from the last book. Rennick’s love letters. I would read a whole book of their letters. I loved the familiar tigon creature named War and even that odd chicken Barb. Barb came out of nowhere but she was some fun on the pages. It’s weird how the author says it won’t be a fantasy book but keeps making some crazy fantasy scenarios to fix plot holes. I just wish she had held back and focused more on the romance and yearning. Lingering glances and hand holding is what we want. I want to see when Roman fell for her and not be surprised when he has to say it at the end.
I do appreciate this world and I loved the little peek of Rennick from the last book but I am disappointed. I had such high hopes and while I probably will continue the series to read Amos’ story I may not scramble for it.

If you liked the first one (Viciously Yours), you’ll LOVE this one. If you didn’t care for the first one, you’ll absolutely hate this one. Very unhinged and spicy.
If you’ve not read the first one (you don’t really have to, all of the books in the series appear to take place at roughly the same time, just in different corners of the world), the closest comparison I can make is Rebecca F Kenney. If you’ve like her level of unhinged, you’ll like this.
I think I enjoyed this one even more than Viciously Yours. Their connection growing up is so true and well executed, the angst is real but not drawn out unnecessarily, and the unexpected comic relief provided by his bloodthirsty mother was a fun surprise.

violet and roman!! 🥹 if you like romantasy with basically 0 world building, this is for you! the plot is entirely romance-based, but there are fantasy elements to the world they live in and all the characters.
roman is completely unhinged, but not as unhinged as rennick (from book 1). i can’t wait to read the next one!

Absolutely unhinged mmc 😍 I stayed up to 2am devouring this book. Viciously Yours was unhinged, but Obsessively Yours, absolutely feral. If you like a man who quite literally kills anyone who touches her and will go against fate for her, please grab this book! The Fae Kings of Eden are all interconnected standalones, but you don’t want to miss any of the feral mmc energy!
Thank you Jamie Applegate Hunter for an arc 😍 this is my favorite book, so far!

Absolutely amazing read. It fun and enjoyable and made me laugh out loud several times. This is a great book if you want fantasy but modern fiction vibes. The fantasy elements are simple, the lore is straightforward and easy to understand. This romance is fun and a little unhinged but that just makes it even better.

I am straight up obsessed with this serious and I’m begging all fans of morally grey characters to read this series!!
I freaking LOVE Violet. I LOVE HER. She’s soft and sweet, but also so internally strong. It’s so uplifting to see a softer type of FMC in a romantasy that’s just as worthy of love. She’s perfect and I love no notes
Roman is perfect unhinged and I was laughing so much. You look at his girl wrong and he’s contemplating murder (I’m not kidding).
The author mentions that Violet like to edge herself but honestly I think the author liked to edge her readers in this one. I could NOT put this book down.

This series is so fun and unhinged! It’s the perfect palate cleanser because you get to see some fantasy elements sprinkled in but don’t necessarily need to worry about the world building being a key factor to the story. Instead, you get to focus on the romance and spice!
Roman (MMC) is one of the most unhinged, down bad, obsessed rabid cinnamon rolls I’ve ever read. I thought Rennick (book 1’s MMC) held that categories top spot, but he walked so that Roman could RUN! The lengths that he goes to to make Violet feel loved and safe is so sweet, wild, yes, but so so sweet!
This book was written by JAH, so of course there is some OW/OM drama included in the journey and honestly I’m a big fan of it within these stories. With the MMC’s obsession towards the FMC, the drama (in my opinion) is written more like entertainment rather than to create angst and/or doubt.
I love this series and I can’t wait to see what unhinged characteristics JAH comes up with for book 3.
