She has done it again! I was obsessed with book one and book two did not disappoint. If you love a touch her a die plot line, this is for you. I’m not joking about it either. This is straight touch her and die. The spice is spicing. The books do spend time with the characters as kids but no “relationships” happen until adulthood.

I love the authors preface to this story - I knew this wasn’t anything serious or mind blowing. I felt like my expectations were appropriately lowered as the author instructed. I have to say I was still disappointed. The story was just meh - about as bland as the mayonnaise revulsion that the FMC has (🤨). And the MMC’s fantasy-equivalent of a Rubik’s cube competition? 🤓😒 There were multiple love triangles, a bitchy sister, a bitchy “friend”, a pet chicken, and lots of  jealous beheadings.

I loved the first one but this one wasn’t for me.

** RECEIVED AS AN ARC ***If you love an unhinged MMC that will kill for any slight against his love this is the book for you. The way Roman is both the sweetest cinnamon roll to Violet and the most unhinged psycho towards anyone that is a threat to even a hair on her head (literally) is so satisfying.  If you loved Viscously Yours you will not be disappointed in the expansion of this world.

Rennick was amazing, but I think Roman may have beat him😍

Roman is the definition of a man written by a woman. Even as a child, he knew Violet would be his one day and he did everything in his power to make that happy. He was obsessed with her, and I was obsessed with this book😂

Compared to the first book, this book was much longer (446 kindle pages I believe) which gave us more time to understand and love all of the characters. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the first book, but I throughly enjoyed this longer book since I was able to know and connect with the characters so much more!

Roman and Violet first meet as kids and immediately feel a sense of friendship and attachment towards one another. We are able to see their relationship progress over the span of a decade and how even though they were faced with many challenges, they made it out together in the end.

Violet’s insecurity involving her sister and how she always seemed to be second best was really sad to read about. It didn’t help that the person she loves (Roman) is supposed to be Vivian’s mate, not Violet’s. (Don’t worry nothing romantic happens between Roman and Vivian) Even though Violet struggles with these insecurities, Roman is always there to assure her that she is always first to him. Roman loved Violet with his ENTIRE mind, body, and soul.

No matter the circumstances, Roman never left Violet’s side. Maybe Violet wasn’t aware that Roman was always with her every night, but he was. Roman will stop at nothing to protected the woman he loves, even if he is fated to be with another. Every single thing he does is out of love for Violet. This man is DOWN BAD for her!!! He is unhinged, a slight stalker *insert the clip of Edward watching Bella sleep from the Twilight movies here*, and obsessed, but he is a lover boy at his core. (He just shows it in a morally grey way of course😏)

I don’t want to write a whole list of the things Roman did that were swoon-worthy because you truly need to read and swoon over his actions with me. I will say: some branding, bite marks, tattoos, and offing💀 those who cause Violet harm or emotional damage, may be involved😉

I can’t end this review without mentioning the side characters, specially War. That tigon familiar stole my freaking heart!! He was by Violet’s side whenever Roman wasn’t and took care of her like he was her familiar, instead of being Roman’s familiar. War had some hilarious scenes which I loved but also heartfelt and cute scenes throughout the book that further solidified my love for him. Jamie does such an amazing job at writing side characters, which makes me love her stories and writing even more.

I went through so many emotions while reading. Happiness, frustration, sadness, anger, relief, humor, ect.. This book brought ALL of the emotions🤧🥹 Before I start safety info, I want to add a few quotes that I highlighted:

“He was hers completely and irrevocably, and he would do whatever it took to make her his, too.”

~

“He didn’t know how long he sat there, watching her sleep, but eventually his lids grew heavy. If he fell asleep, he didn’t think his glamour would hold to conceal him.  Then he left, vowing to never return. Except he did return. Every night.”

Edward watching Bella sleep in Twilight vibes 😂

~

“When she sees something that makes her happy, call for me. I want to see her happy, too.”

SHUT UP I’M SOBBING!! 🎶<i>I’m in paiiinnnn🎶

~

“Roman’s grin turned feral, and he leaned down to graze his lips across her cheek. “You’re not only my queen, Violet. You’re my obsession. You have always been mine, and I have always been yours. Not even the gods succeeded at keeping you from me, what makes you think something as trivial as morals would?”

Yes, thank you for binding my heart back together❤️‍🩹

Now on to the main event for most of my friends…

Safety info: slight spoilers for the romance but not for major plot points
• Virgin MMC/ non virgin FMC
OM info-
• FMC has had s3x 2 times with the same guy but I don’t think she was ever with anyone else after him. At this point, she thought Vivian and Roman were happy in a relationship so she decided to force herself to move on. Not on page, just mentions. This guy was taken care of after disrespecting her.
• In current-ish time, Violet is dating OM and only kisses him. She is in “love” with him but doesn’t love him like she loved Roman. On page light kissing between the two but nothing progresses. This relationship does not last long on page but they have been dating for 1 year.
OW info-
• Roman is fated mates with Vivian (Violet’s twin) but does NOT have ANY romantic feelings towards her. He does not like her as a person either. Vivian forcefully kissed Roman to make (her sister or her secret boyfriend) jealous when they were young. Both were repulsed by this. This was Roman’s “first kiss” if you want to count it as such. All of Roman’s first were with Violet. Violet saw this kiss and it made her jealous but Roman explains.
• Roman has a female guard that follows Violet to watch her when he can’t. This guard has fallen for Roman and tries to touch him (out of comfort or to be near him) but Roman feels nothing for her and always pulls away. It makes Violet jealous so he does set the record straight and deal with this OW.
Other info-
• Violet and Roman go to pleasure houses (on page) to watch the performers do smexual acts. Violet enjoys this but Roman ONLY cares about Violet and does not watch/ find pleasure in watching the performers.
• no condoms, BC tonic used, no pregnancy in current timeline

Last but not least-
This book was an ARC but this is my honest review. Thank you so, so, so much to the author for allowing me to ARC read this book. This series is one of my favorites!

This is the story between the tropical fae king Roman and his mate Violet. It tracks their meeting (at 12), his mate bond with her twin sister and subsequent development of their friendship (both want more), and the eventual breaking of his bond and forging of a new one with Violet.

Ok that being said, I HATED THIS BOOK. I was intrigued with the premise — mated to the wrong sister! How can we fix this?? — but it just dragged out at every single step. It was probably 100 pages too long, and the story that’s left just isn’t great 🤷🏼‍♀️ I know it’s not meant to be a literary masterpiece but my gosh Violet was just completely incapable and Roman was unlikable. And the spice scenes got to the point that I skimmed most of them by the end.

Really enjoyed Obsessively Yours more than the first book. If you’ve read Viciously Yours, you might remember Roman. Rest assured that he’s just as obsessed with his girl as you’d hope for.

This book follows his story and the drama around his fated mate. I really liked all the twists and turns and betrayals that I wasn’t expecting. Appreciate that this longer than book 1 since that one felt too short.

Highly recommend for when you are looking for a fun little uncomplicated read. While you can absolutely read these as standalone, I recommend reading them in order to get the best experience but if you don’t, know to won’t be lost.

Thanks to Jamie Applegate Hunter for the ARC that allowed me to read it a few days ahead of the rest of y'all.
