This book! I absolutely loved it. The fact that it was longer than the first book was a huge bonus. I loved getting to delve into these characters lives and understand how they tick. The fact that these books are primarily focused on the romance and they are still so good is as surprising to me as truly meeting Roman’s mom (not the just queen) for the first time! I loved her by the way. It was funny, hopeful, and adorably unhinged. Give. Me. More.

Thankful for the arc and desperately waiting for the next book in Sept.!

“No one had explained the dangers of falling in love—infinitely more dangerous than falling from a tree. When you fall in love and the other person doesn’t catch you, you break more than a bone when hitting the ground. You break everything: Your heart. Your soul. Your confidence in yourself. It all just shatters.
They must call it falling because when it’s over, you can feel your heart fall to your feet right before it breaks against the hard truth.”

“I will suffer the deepest ring of hell if it means one lifetime with her.”

“Forever. In every lifetime. No god or man can take you from me without joining me in death, and if they send me to hell for my sins, I will claw my way back to you, princess. Always.”
“What makes you think I won’t follow you to hell?”

Thank you to Jamie for sending me this ARC! All opinions are my own🫰

I have to restrict myself from posting anymore quotes because I could genuinely post 90% of this book for how much it had me GOING. Kicking my feet giggling, crying, blushing, literally all the emotions. Jamie applegate hunter will try and trick you with her notes saying “this isn’t a literary masterpiece” and then will make characters have the most beautiful relationships that will leave you reeling for days.

I have to start with the fact I’m always preening over male yearning, and how I think we need to bring it back. Jamie understood the assignment TEN MF FOLD. Roman is the absolute pinnacle of male yearning and MAN was it delicious.

Let me just say Romans mother way just chefs kiss🤌 murderous women are my favorite

Ask yourself before you read this… would a man outlaw mayo simply because you don’t like it? No? He dosnt love you the way Roman would.

I knew from the beginning Roman was absolutely a little nerd and the way she developed that was GOLD.

My own gripe with this book is the deodorant is crystals- THAT SHIT DONT WORK I KNOW THEY STANK BAAAAAAAD.

Violet is a respectful, relatable kind FMC that shares my love of putting animals who shouldn’t be in clothes, in clothes.

Overall, if you want to be sad and miserable and not spend your day reading about the cutest and equally devastating relationship you’ve ever seen, don’t read this.

P.S. THE PARALLELS AND REFERENCES TO THE UMBRA KING? JAMIE YOU DIRTY DOG I STILL HAVENT FORGOTTEN HOW MANY TEARS I SHED OVER THAT SERIES PLS DONT DO THIS TO ME

I was so excited to get an ARC for this! I'm so invested in this series and the MMCs who are just rabidly obsessed with their FMCs. Plus the tiny tie-in from The Umbra King series (I see what you did Jamie).
A couple minor spoilers ahead.
Roman and Violet were so good together. I totally connected with Violet on the heartache of letting someone go because it was the hand that was dealt. If you're a girl who has had to overcome self imposed limitations because you'd rather see someone else happy, you'll understand Violet. Roman being a total cinnamon roll for Violet......give me that all day every day. I loved their dynamic and how he never gave up on his love. I can't wait for book 3!

This was absolutely everything. I thought I loved the first one but this blew me out of the water, I could not stop smiling and giggling at Roman and Violet and their interactions with each other. They just were so cute and I’m going to say it OBSESSED with each other that I almost couldn’t take the cuteness. I absolutely loved their relationship and how devoted they were to each other since they met. I especially loved how Roman slowly got more and more unhinged as time went on, at the end I was rolling on the floor, he lowkey is more unhinged than Rennick just because of the way his mind works.

I was super interested in the premise of twins and picking the wrong one for fated mates and loved how it played out! The minor characters especially Slayton, were incredibly written and I adore them and hope they pop up in future books! I can’t wait to continue the series!!

In this book you will find: fated mates, graphic depictions of sex, jealousy, murder, miscommunication trope, touch her and die, look at her and die, animal companions, love at first sight, and so much more!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is the second book in the Fae Kings of Eden series, a set of interconnected fantasy romance standalones. As the author tells you at the beginning of the book, this story is “unhinged” and “do not take this book too seriously.” She’s not joking. 😅There are numerous very dark elements to this story so please read the trigger warnings. I received an advance review copy and my thoughts are my own. Thank you to the author for my eArc.
Tropes and themes include:
✨Childhood friends to star-crossed lovers
✨Fated mates
✨Stalking and voyeurism
✨Touch her and die
✨Found family
✨OTT possessive MMC
✨Animal familiars
Rating: 4.5/5 Stars 3/5 Flames
Nickname: Princess
The Lovely: I loved the dynamic and ever-evolving relationship between the MMC and FMC. Their yearning for each other was everything as the Fates pushed them apart. The MMC may be morally dark gray but his sweet acts (ok, sometimes a little crazy) towards the FMC had me swooning. I also loved seeing the FMC develop and grow into her role.
Also Lovely: The MMC’s familiar, War, stole the show with his protectiveness and sass. And seeing him chased by a chicken didn’t hurt either.
Recommendation: This book kept me laughing at the MMC’s dramatics, the crazy side characters (whose motives were so fun to figure out) and the general unhinged nature. If you want a traditional fantasy romance, this isn’t it. If you’re in the mood for a standalone dark story that is funny and over the top, this might be the book for you.
