Seriously dark and twisted. A good thriller overall. Would’ve liked more depth about the husband and what was going on here (trying not to spoil) or just omission of all the extra shocking stuff that happened with him, because it felt unnecessary without a more in depth dive into this plot point. Loved the back and forth timeline wise and felt like the author did a great job tying the past into the present and revealing every little twist.

“My perfect life… My missing husband… The night I can’t remember…”
The Trapped Wife is another stellar read from Samantha Hayes that has you trapped in the pages. consumed in what is a very thrilling story. It is a slow burn to begin with as the foundation is laid out, but Hayes does a great job of keeping you invested and it doesn’t feel too drawn out to when it really kicks in.
This well written story has been skilfully plotted and is very multilayered. It keeps you on your toes as its narration moves between multiple points of view through a duel timeline and while it does cover some hard hitting themes, they have been handled extremely well. What I loved the most is how twisted it is and how. each change the direction of the story. Hayes does a fantastic job of deceiving the reader and just as it states on the cover of the book, “Whatever you think you know…You’re wrong…”
I really love these types of stories and this one gave me everything and more that I look for in a psychological thriller and just reiterates why I love this genre so much. Hayes is a force to be reckoned with here and has really upped the ante and delivered a compelling read that will blow you away!

An exemplary, harrowing and sinister thriller, that is loaded with breathe taking twists and complicated characters, making this one of the best thrillers I have read this year!
I definitely didn't see the conclusion coming at all, but this could be because I had to put this down and pick it up again a few times (without any reflection at all on the book - just life commitments!) I could have easily finished this in one sitting, it had me gripped and intrigued from the first few chapters.
Please ensure that you read up about the topics in this book, as there are some very disturbing and hard to read scenes that could potentially be very triggering for some readers.
Despite this, if you are a fan of dark psychological thrillers, then this is not one you want to miss out on!
Thank you NetGalley, and Bookouture for the gifted copy of this book, in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Dr. Jen Miller is back to work after she lost her husband Jeremy six weeks ago while on a skiing trip in Switzerland. She is also pregnant because of a one-night stand she had while at the medical conference in Oxford and now that the guy, Scott, shows up at her practice and wants to be a part of Jen’s and the baby’s lives. Can Jen trust Scott or does he have ulterior motives ?
The Trapped Wife by Samantha Hayes is a fast paced psychological thriller. . This book was certainly not what I was expecting, a story that twists and turns so fast and so abruptly that it made me question everything that I thought I knew.
I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

My family gathers around the large oak table in our beautifully renovated home. I’ve put on a dress and lit candles, and there’s a wonderful aroma coming from the dinner you’ve so lovingly prepared. I feel your hand squeeze mine as you top up my glass and ask about my day as a doctor in our small town. It’s the perfect domestic scene, except for one tiny fact: I think my husband is dead, and you are just another patient of mine…
I had no choice but to let you in. If I laugh at your jokes and run my fingers through your hair, maybe I can delete the photos on your phone and find the truth about the night I can’t remember, just before my husband left on the trip he never returned from. Perhaps my son and I will have a chance at a normal life again.
But as I carefully piece together the shards of what really happened that fateful night, only one thing can possibly be true: everyone is lying, even me…
I had a hard time with this one. On one hand, I liked the idea for the story, however, I found none of the characters to be that likable or relatable. It was also pretty slow-paced and predictable.

This was slow and a little beyond believable for me to really dive into this book and wholly enjoy.
The plot twist(s) were not exactly all that surprising and I guess the only part that did suprise me was how little police involvement there was in any part of this story.
Certainly dark and twisted but the characters were lacking in any real elements to relate and appeal to the reader enough for you to care on who is innocent / safe / alive or dead.
I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review

This book didn’t turn out the way that I thought that it would and I actually really enjoyed it. I found Jen to be a very interesting character and she definitely wasn’t what I was expecting whatsoever. I enjoyed the past POV involving the two boys and I found myself wanting to know more about them as the story progressed. Oh boy was there ever some twists in this book and I never saw them coming.
