I adore these messed up fairytales but I wish there was more, I get that they end with a somewhat happy ending but I wanted more, I wanted to read about toadling meeting his mother and what they did together and if they fell in love. I wanted to read about Toadling seeing the world again for the first time

Sweet novella that turns the sleeping beauty story on its head. The resolution is faster than I thought but has a satisfying ending.

I’m in disbelief as to how much world building and character depth T. Kingfisher accomplished in a little over 100 pages. I felt for Toadling, I missed her family, despaired for the queen, and was endeared by Halim. The climax felt rushed, but aren't most fairytales the same?

I would have been happy to continue reading Toadling’s journey past the end of the story.
