The Silver Chair

This is a great one! I think it’s pretty equal with Voyage of the Dawn Treader, but the characters were less familiar so it lacked all that character building and development that made the last one so good. That being said, I like the Eustace and Jill duo more than the Pevensies. They are less perfect and their mannerisms more realistic which makes them more fun to read. It was nice to see the return of some previous characters like Caspian and Trumpkin. I also liked the new characters and species that were introduced, especially Puddleglum, who was a great mixture of guardian and comic relief. I finished this one in almost one sitting, listening to the audiobook while doing a puzzle.

Do not remember a single thing from this book, again was literally reading it to finish the series

As always, C.S. Lewis delivered a fantastic children's story replete with metaphors. "The Silver Chair" has a new twist, however. In this book, Lewis introduces a subterranean world beneath Narnia ruled by a conniving witch. I quite enjoyed this section of the book and found great similarities between it and the now-stereotypical subterranean worlds of Middle Earth, Golarion, and the Forgotten Realms.

There is very little else I can offer in this review other than to praise Lewis' writing and compare it to his other works. "The Silver Chair" isn't as strong as "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" or even "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader." That said, it is still a remarkable book that my son and I enjoyed from beginning to end. My son is engrossed enough in these tales to request that we begin the next book in the series within seconds of finishing one.

It's very "meh" for me

The shame of the Narnian collection; nothing to me was good about this novel. Perhaps I'll try it again later, but I have so many other novels to read....

The first book in the chronicles of Narnia that I've read without seeing it's movie first. Of course at this moment there is no silver chair movie, though I've heard there might be one in the future.

As always this was a fun, imaginitive and adventurous book to read and I recommend it to everyone who enjoys fantasy books.
