I was a little nervous when I realized Fawkes wasn’t in this one but boy does Baxter deliver in this second installment. I loved her in the first book and enjoyed seeing her flourish on her own. She is that perfect vibe of sarcasm And no bullshit. The story and new characters were all interesting and it was was great seeing some of the old characters again. I’m really looking forward to the third book. The crimes are always so inventive and scary.

Hangman locations

Is it wrong for a gory murder book to make you laugh? There's blood, gore and comedy galore in this adventure - second to Ragdoll and with characters other than Wolf at its centre.

It's one of the most entertaining tours of New York I've ever done that's for sure! The plot may be something off a theatre stage but it's entertaining if not a bit surreal. The incident with the spider - OMG now that was funny.

Baxter is a great character and it was a treat to get to know her and have her at the centre of the case. A bizarre case of Bait and Puppet being carved into the chests of victims. I did almost pass out on one occasion but I forgive Daniel Cole if for nothing else than that last line.

I wonder which nice childhood memory Daniel is going to warp for book three!Haha I will be there!

If you just run with the story, it's an enjoyable thriller with twists, gore, and some dark humour. If you start thinking about what you've read, however, you'll see it's quite over the top actually, and there are questions that are left unanswered.

Wow! Loved Ragdoll by Daniel Cole and absolutely loved this one too. Detective Emily Baxter has been seconded to help the FBI and CIA investigate a murder in New York that has connections with the Ragdoll case. Before she gets to New York the actual Ragdoll killer is murdered in prison just after she and her colleagues had interviewed him. Non-stop from the start this story kept me gripped from beginning to en. Absolutely loved it.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and Daniel Cole for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Still loving the series just as much. Just when you start missing one of the main characters from Ragdoll, another one swoops in to claim another piece of your heart. Daniel Cole has created another dark, fast paced thriller laced with humor and sarcasm.
