I was gifted a copy of this book by the author as part of a Secret Date with a Book, hosted by Francessca Wingfield of Wingfield Designs on Facebook.

I have read a lot of MC books/series and I have to say it is a genre I love reading. This book is the first in a series and on finishing it, in one day I should add, I am going to download the rest of the series too. The storyline introduced us to a lot of different characters, and I can’t wait to find out much more about them in future books.

I loved the characters, the whole story, and the little twists the author threw in near the end.

Roll on book 2!

This was so bizarrely written. There was tons of plot shoved into this book with no explanation, no exploration, no character development. The dialogue was so cringeworthy, I literally cringed while reading it. Like, idk, but if someone admitted to me that she’d been molested starting when she was 11 by an older man who was still part of the MC and I had a DAUGHTER in that very MC, I’d do more than go, “Oh no. That’s awful.” And then never talk about it again. !!!!!!!!!! Like, WHAT?? And that’s how it was in this entire book. Serious conversations were dropped randomly throughout without any lead up, explanation, or reaction. Dialogue can be great, but if we don’t have any exposition to tell us how the characters are feeling, the book comes off as shallow and unrealistic.

I downloaded this bc it was recommended as a take care of her after an abusive ex book and…I did not get that. I was hoping for an overprotective, sweet hero who was good with the kid. What I got was a wishy washy hero who couldn’t even get the men under him to call him pres and a kid who was only mentioned by name in passing.

Ridiculous, boring, underdeveloped, and did I mention ridiculous?

Love

This book was recommended by one of my great book.friends and I'm glad I asked her for the recommendation now.
This book was bloody brilliant.
Being a victim of domestic violence myself this book brought back some bad memories but also the fact I escaped like rylee did makes me so damn happy.
Thank you for such an emotional but beautiful book can't wait for book 2 now

I have loved all of Nicola’s books I’ve read. Her Kings Reapers MC series always ripped my heart out as much as I’ve loved it. So I was happy to see that this book wasn’t as heart wrenching as some of her other books. It does contain domestic violence and talk of it as well. So it’s not lighthearted in the slightest lol! But it’s also so so sweet. Maverick is tough but sweet, he has to be tough for the MC but when it comes to Rylee and Ella he is a teddy bear. And a man in love. A man that will protect them at all cost. So if you are looking for a love story with a bit of grit but so much love this book is for you. I have a feeling this book is only the beginning of an amazing new series and if I know Nicola like I think I do this one will be the tames of all the books. Cause I know how she loves to torture us so much!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Wow that was an awesome Rollercoaster ride of feelings and action. Maverick is the new president of a local MC and wants to change and renew it, after his fathers (old president) death. It's come to his attention that a battered woman and her daughter needs their help. Rylee is in dire need of help. Her abusive husband keeps her and her daughter prisoner. The MC saves her and gives her and her daughter a safe place to stay. A great start of a new series. with awesome characters and a great plot. This story has everything that you need: action, deception, justice, angst, romance ,steam and everything in between.
