A flawed but brilliant story about how small acts of terrorism can have long-lasting effects.

Really interesting plot with thoughtful, unexpectedly visual language. I didn't love the characters, but found it compelling the way the consequences of the original bomb spread outward, and was happy I chose to read a book that was a bit foreign for me, because it showed me a part of the world I might not have otherwise pursued. Not a happy book.

A beautifully written woven narrative. The only oddity, to me, was bringing in a new voice so close to the end of the book because it was hard to become emotionally invested in his piece

The last third of the book was better than the first two-thirds, which were too slow-moving and uninteresting for me. The only reason I finished reading it is that it's the October selection for my local library's book club.

Sort of a "butterfly effect" novel built around the many blasts that are too small or not lethal enough to garner much attention in the national and international news cycles. This is the story of "small" people whose lives are irrevocable altered by something so simple and mundane that it goes unacknowledged by the powerless many and the powerful few. Some of the characters grated, as perhaps a little too realistic a portrayal of arrogant, women-hating types. But overall the novel is wel worth reading.

I was just on the edge of liking/sympathizing or even being interested in many of the characters but never got there. A story of the connections, coincidences and circular nature of life which for me felt a bit flat. The politics and culture that fuelled so much of the plot felt 2 dimensional.
