This book was an absolute blast! A dark romance with a hilarious twist that had me hooked from the start. Cat and Bennett have an intense rivalry—at least, that’s what they tell themselves. Cat is determined to become a serial killer, but she hasn’t quite managed her first kill yet, mostly because Bennett always beats her to it. He’s the brother of her best friend/mentor’s fiancé (the couple from book one), which only adds to their tangled connection. But when they end up stuck together in a cabin during a winter retreat, their chemistry explodes. They think giving in to the tension will help them shake off their obsession, but of course, it only pulls them deeper into it.

The best part? Seeing a whole new side of Bennett. He’s not just the cocky, competitive killer we met before—he’s also fiercely possessive and surprisingly caring. His focus on Cat throughout the retreat makes their dynamic even more intense. He doesn’t just want her; he wants to help her, which adds an unexpected depth to their relationship. Their push-and-pull is addictive, and watching them spiral further into their twisted attraction was so much fun. The hate-spice between them is wild—so much tension, so much banter, and when they finally give in, it’s pure fire.

The slaycation setting was fantastic. The winter retreat added a fresh, brutal atmosphere, and the activities? Creative and gruesome in the best way. The other serial killers at the retreat? Absolutely amazing. Their reactions to Cat and Bennett were priceless. Instead of being weirded out, they actually helped them, which led to some of the funniest moments in the book. It made the whole retreat feel chaotic in the most entertaining way.

But let’s talk about the real horror here—Bennett’s obsession with food. Seriously, what is going on? It’s so bizarre and so funny, but also slightly disturbing. If you’re planning to snack while reading, maybe rethink that choice. Some of those scenes will make you see certain foods in a whole new light. Thanksgiving will never be the same again.

The only downside? Ezra and Kindra were frustrating. They spent most of the book acting annoyed and interfering, which took away from the fun. It felt unnecessary, and it would’ve been way better if they had just stayed out of it.

Slay Ride was dark, spicy, and ridiculously fun. If you love morally questionable characters, a twisted yet hilarious romance, and a wild plot that keeps you entertained, this book is definitely worth reading!

The new retreat Jim put Ezra & Kindra in charge of is ready for some murder and frenzy! The gang:  Kindra, Ezra, Cat, Bennett, Ice Pick, Grim, Rose, Maverick, and a new killer, Eve, are ready for some unaliving.  Cat & Bennett are at each other's throats but become enamored with each other with wild times and hot sex.  Trying to keep it a secret proves difficult and leads to a lot of misunderstanding.  Bennett engages in more food encounters while including Cat.  She finally gets her first kill and her killer name.  Fun delving through the layers of Bennett's personality (He's the chaos killer for a reason) and Cat's insecurities while they navigate their love/hate relationship while trying to hide it from the others.  Great banter, evolving friendships, erotic sex (especially with all of Bennett's piercings), kills, & overall a fantastic story.  Looking forward to the next book!
