I stopped because I noticed the parallels between hunger games and it.  I searched it up and saw how it was plagiarizing red queen.  Before this it felt really cheesy and just a bunch of tropes.  It’s like Lauren put, hunger games, red queen, other books into a blender with tons of cheesy tropes and wattpad writing and forgot to blend it.  Sorry for the people who like it, lol

Well, that was heartbreaking.

Solid story throughout, loved the FMC and the hints of a love triange. Love Kit and Kai. The ending was tragic but set up a good cliffhanger. Excited to read the next one.

THE TENSION BROKE ME

I have some very conflicting opinions about this book. I went into it knowing I probably wasn’t gonna like it very much just because it’s aimed at a younger aged demographic. I did enjoy it though. My only issue with this book was that it felt like the inspirations were a little too obvious, I’m not really sure if that makes sense. What I mean to say is, I could tell that she was inspired by things like the hunger games and honestly, it felt a little like she was hiding behind specific tropes that are common in fantasy books. Fantasy isn’t really my genre so maybe that is where I am falling short when it comes to this, but I feel like I’ve read something similar to this before.

With that being said, I enjoyed it enough to go on and finish the series. And the real driving reason for this is the characters, I loved the characters in this book and even though at times the plot felt a little lacking. The characters always made up for that.
