Wow!!! I loved this!!!! Such a fun and truly thought provoking story about class, wealth, race and love. One of my new favorites I fear! Certainly a little tongue in cheek and focused on somewhat silly first world problems but I loved it regardless

1/5 stars

if the author wanted me to feel bad for all these rich people, she should take a page out of how succession writes characters. practically none of the characters were likable expect sasha, but i think that's mainly because everyone else, including her husband, treated her like shit

This was… mostly a waste of time. I had high hopes based on the gorgeous cover and the description, but it was really just 302 pages of some spoiled rich kids and their now-rich spouses having bad takes and going through minor awakenings that they mistake for growth. I wanted an exciting look into the lavish lives of Old Money, or else some drama or tension . But I didn’t get any of that, or much of anything else. The book was well-written, but there was just no content. No plot is fine, I love a character-driven story. But these characters just weren’t developed or endearing or interesting enough to drive a story. I wasn’t really rooting for anyone and by the end I cared so little about what happened to any of them.

What brought it down to 2 stars is the ending, where
I was actually really excited about the candlesticks catching fire. I thought finally, something is happening! There is going to at least be a twist ending or some commentary or something. Nope. I turned the page and there was a small fire, but everyone is fine and the house is fine.
What was the point?! What was the point of any of this!
