This was so creative, so imaginative, and had a wonderful development of characters/world building.
It was so fun and fast paced that I was completely involved until the last page, it left me wanting more.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed this - an interesting story with some unexpected turns along the way. I sobbed at the end. Like others, I struggled a bit with Quicksilver, but she really grew on me.

As I was reading this book I went back and forth between liking it and disliking it because I kept trying to judge it against other works of hers. That was not fair of me. While I like her other works, they are entirely different. She created a whole new world and engaging characters who were very interesting because they were multiple species. I like the fact that she was willing to give her characters moments where they were not the nicest people, and I loved her play on unicorns.

After reading Furyborn I wanted to read everything Legrand wrote. This one was enjoyable but nothing compared to Furyborn. 4🌟 because it was enjoyable.

Quicksilver is 12, and her only companion is her dog, Fox. There is a boy, Sly Boots, who sometimes lets her stay in his attic if it gets too cold. If you're alone, no one can hurt you. But an old lady with a scraggly dog wanders into town, seeming to be a witch, even though the Wolf King has outlawed witchcraft for years. Can Quicksilver let the woman change her life?

I loved this one so much. It has heart, it has complex plots about good and evil and the nature of truth, and what friendship is.

I've loved a few of LeGrand's other books, but this one felt bloated, flat, and heavily cribbed. Disappointing for an author I normally look forward to.
